Please listen to the short .mov audio clip attached. This noise (which you can hear prominently as I pass by cars on my street with windows down at speeds less than 25 mph) is what my brand new 2022 F150 5.0L truck with now just over 100 miles on it sounds like. Ford Motor Company has instructed the dealer to tell me there's nothing wrong and the noise is simply a "characteristic" of the 10R80 10-Speed Transmission. But I'm hearing some other 2021 and 2022 F150 owners do not have this whine noise at all. This noise is very loud on my truck and people think I'm driving a hybrid. It's embarrassing to drive.

ARE YOU EXPERIENCING THIS SAME "WHINE" NOISE WHEN DRIVING?

i have voted, mine has a wine, but more like a belt or pump whine, not high pitched like the recording

Mine is at the dealership as we speak for this very issue. It has gotten progressively louder over time. It’s somewhat quiet until it gets to operating temp.

Yes...at cold start up you can't hear it. When it gets to operating temp...the noise starts. Driving me batty. I just want Ford to make it right.

Amen to that! I’m waiting for the call telling me that it is normal. I will go batshit crazy if that happens!

Had my truck in a few weeks ago for this noise, and was told it was normal. Called Customer Care who said the same thing. I asked for decibel tolerances for what they consider normal, and got nothing. Ended up getting a call back saying that it's up to the dealer's discretion as to how to proceed. Dealer then says they can't do anything without approval. What a runaround.

I voted, but the poll is flawed as you can only choose between the two polar opposites of "doesn't bother me" and "[not] acceptable at all". My truck has a whine, but it is neither acceptable or unacceptable. I'd like to find out the cause and if it is a problem.

I think mine has the whine, hard for me to tell by the clip. I don't have the truck now, it's been at the dealership since last Friday for another issue (only had it for three weeks and 450 miles).
What I recall I've heard is a low pitch whine, changes pitch with RPM's, sounds like fluid in a pump. Low RPM's, when backing up or pulling away from a stop. Changes pitch when trans shifts from 1-2, 2-3, etc., then seems to go away. Or just can't hear it anymore due to road noise.
When I get it back, I will make a point to evaluate further.

I have listened to your video and can’t hear a whine. Perhaps my new truck whines, but I may never know.

Mine did initially upon delivery especially at idle. Has since settled down. None existent practically.

Something to be said for being a little deaf and the bad roads making other noises with mine.

All I hear is wind noise and tire noise from other vehicles on the recording.

i have the same powertrain and transmission. the wine only occurs at extremely low speeds in motion. imo it’s just a characteristic of our powertrain. i wouldn’t worry too much about it.

With my truck there is a *very mild* RPM dependent whine only perceptible if the windows are open and I’m moving at low speeds. 3/4 of my last few Ford vehicles exhibited a similar whine so it’s not really something I’m concerned about.

Of note, all the vehicles that displayed it had either 6F35 or 10R80 transmissions, the vehicles with other transmissions didn’t do it, which is mildly confusing because one that didn’t had a 6F55 that’s closely related to the 6F35 (the 6F35 is basically a “neck down“ of the 6F50/6F55 that came from Ford‘s joint 6-speed transverse transmission project with GM). I’ve long suspected it’s pump whine or something.

Above is a video of mine from today. Hopefully it works ok. I can't accept this as "normal".
It's definitely worse at low speeds with the windows open, but still not right.
