do our F150 really need mud flaps? if so, do all four wheels or just the rear?
IMO, yes. I purchased them from weather tech. They keep a lot of dirt and grime off the front half of the truck and off the running boards

i see you're a retired electrician...i'm no where near a retired electrician but i do know being an electrician can wear on people! theres only so much 277V one can take!

seriously though, that was my thought process and how i kinda felt about mud flaps until i put them on and through their paces haha but seeing as they do serve a function i'm ok with them now haha
Lol.... Good to hear...BTW... being in Canada...we don't use 277....we use 347 and 600.

I got the Ford parts store Ford branded Gator ones. They're basically a big thick piece of rubber with a stainless backplate. I like they way they look, though it screams "work truck". The big benefit to me is that they just flex in response to stuff hitting them, i.e. "the Earth", so they are more tolerant of off-roading than a piece of rigid plastic.

Check your local laws, but many states require them on all light duty, heavy duty, and commercial trucks. Definitely applies to commercial trucks across all 50 states, but many states require them on light duty trucks as well.

As a former truck driver, the rule was they have to be at least as wide as your tread and hang down past the center line of the rear axle or lower.

In Canada it law here as well, but how many trucks I see without them , a law that is barely enforced…

It's a law for larger trucks everywhere but smaller pickups are exempt.
My newly installed mudflaps have done the job this week keeping the road gunk off sides of truck with all the rainy weather. I have added them to every truck I've owned.

I keep going back and forth as to whether or not I like the look of mudflaps. My stock tires (275/65/18s I think) actually seem to fit nicely under the truck and don't seem to kick up much, but I've only had it off-road once in the two months I've had it.

sheesh! thats freaking ludicrous!
I should point out, those voltages are in industrial and commercial systems, residential are 120/240. where I worked for the last 20 years there was 2 services supplying the plant - one at 25,000 volts and one at 66,000 volts. Both systems were stepped down to 600 volts and lower.

It is enforced in Manitoba. Not on 1/2 nd 3/4 tons, but over that it is.

i gotcha. nothing to scoff at thats for sure.
i did residential for a tiny bit so thats 120/240 here as well. i did mainly commercial 3 phase systems at either 120/208 or 480/277.

now i'm messing in power generation. most the plant is 480 and up. our switchyard is 234kV. a little much to be around if you ask me haha

Also, people need mud flaps

Add me to the 'all four' club. Wheel liners and flaps were amongst the first mods I did.

i'm not an electrician, but worked a summer for a relamping company changing out lights/ballasts in big box department stores. i got a 277V shock one time only and that was enough. one of the worst feelings i ever experienced.

i'm a believer in the mudflaps. put them on every truck.
