Is this something to consider when installing ditch lights on the hood of my 2023 STX- is there much glare that would be distracting at night

Angle them out like "at a ditch" or get really nice spot patterns if youre more into the higher speed stuff (i'm thinking XL 80's from BD) The rain makes it worse. YMMV

Yes I have 2 BD white driving pattern lights on hood mounts pointed straight out. Love em.
Kinda just got used to the glare, I have space white so is bright glare.
Some folks put black on hood for this. Overkill I think, or I'm too lazy
Love my Baja designs, also diode dynamics are comparable but cheaper.
I have diode dynamics amber in bumper that light ditch a bit but I just turned then forward for trail.
Here's an example I turned the BD pillar lights off towards the end 12:00.
Also toggles the 3 ironman light bars in my bumper briefly
FYI get correct mount so lights aren't behind the antenna I have them but haven't swapped them out yet.

Hey Vic!

If your hood lights are aimed outward in a true ditch light position, you shouldn't experience too much hood glare. But if they're aimed forward, that's where you'll want to change optics for a more focused beam pattern.

For example, our SS3 ditch light kit includes our combo optic, which is a fusion of flood and driving patterns. The flood portion of the optic can create spill on the hood if it's forward-facing. That's why the majority of users switch to a driving or spot optic for a focused beam directly over the hood.

While Baja and Diode both offer different patterns, Diode Dynamics provides a sharper focus due to the use of TIR optics over reflector optics. This can result in far less hood glare but not complete elimination.

Additionally, while our products might be priced slightly below Baja Designs for competition. Our products are proudly designed, engineered, and assembled in the US.

Which mounts are you suggesting that are forward of the antenna, great video BTW

Not sure. Cant find them again. Ones I have are inboard ish, I think the new ones are outboard of antenna not forward. Haven't tried them yet.
