For me 4WD is for parking in the barn, EVERY day. Lol
It's on a hill with a gravel incline.

With the cars I have to take a good run at the hill and it's a commitment! ?

I've had mine Sport/FX4 for 6 weeks and have HAD to use 4wd three times going to hunting spots. Got to make that decision for yourself. I will be offroad a lot in mine.

In all fairness, the choice between 2WD and 4WD makes a difference in packages and powertrain configurations... I looked at modifying my order from a 4X4 XL RCSB with 5.0 and 3.73 locker to a 2X4 XLT RCSB with 5.0 and 3.73 locker til I found out to keep the gearing (best you can get in a short bed is 3.31) I had to upgrade to long bed, and add trailering and heavy payload packages, otherwise the only engine available was the base one. So the 4WD stays, it'll be helpful for driving in upper NY state and Canada, esp during lake effect storms.

Doesn't sound like you need it. The only question is whether you might be wanting to sell or trade-in the truck in the not too distant future. If so, as you point out, lots of people like those features, so they do add to resale value.
but you have to pay 5 grand more up front. so it evens out

My truck should be arriving at the dealer this week. It seems 90% of the trucks I've been seeing are 4x4/FX4 trucks.

I live in Houston, don't do waterworks (so no launch ramps) and don't go off-road.

My current truck is an STX 2WD and it's been fine. No issues. ..

I decided based on my usage that 4x4/FX4 wasn't needed. I couldn't see spending an extra 5k for the 4x4 with FX4 package.

Will I regret this decision? I don't think I will, but seeing hiw so many are FX4 trucks, am I missing something?
IMO you'll be ok. I have a 2021 rcsb FX4 and it wasnt 5 grand more but was around a thousand more. Skid plates and little stiffer suspension and a decal and rock crawl are the biggest difference I can tell. If you had a 2wd before you be good the the standard 4x4. Use the extra money for insurance and upgrades lol

This thread is over a year old.......
So what if it’s a year old, this isn’t Reddit. Plus, people get flak for starting a duplicate thread, so you’re damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

I live in NY and if i didn't have to go to work when it snowed i would bet 2WD. I only use 4WD a couple of times a year but i need it for those times.
