So i have a quistion for anyone that has done drop shackles and removed the block. i have a 2022 crew cab short bed with 40k miles and noticed my rear pinion seal seeping/leaking. I searched the forums and have noticed others saying their seal went out at all random miles from 5k-45k and I'm assuming they are stock suspension. Has anyone else had their pinion seal start seeping after drop shackles and block removal or is this maybe coincidence? I've had them on the truck for maybe 5k miles or so. If so did the dealership cover the cost of the seal with warranty or should I put the stock shackles back on before taking the truck in?

Have you checked your pinion angle?

If it's normal, total coincidence.

Removing the rear blocks does not change the pinion angle at all.
Installing the drop shackles will indeed change the pinion angle.
I suspect it is just a coincidence, as the angle wouldn’t change much.

I may have missed it but how many miles?

This happened to me on my previous truck (2013). As soon as I installed the drop shackles I noticed a little vibration on takeoff and around 45 mph. The pinion seal started leaking after just a couple thousand miles. When I replaced the seal and put the stock shackles back on the vibration disappeared.

The transmission and rear end need to be parallel to avoid vibrations due to speed fluctuations induced by non-parallel angles.

Yup. Easiest way is with a digital angle finder.

Stick in on the transmission pan, get reading.

Place it on the pinion flange, check angle. You want them to be in line. Transmission should be negative say 4 or 5, pinion positive 4 or 5. Something like that. They need to match closely.
