I want to delete the useless pro trailer back up assist knob. I actually know how to back a trailer and don't need a the gimic to do it. Personally i feel if you can't back it up you shouldn't be towing it in the first place. Some people will be triggered by this and lash out because they think "its just great". My condolences to you and your feelings.

Any who... anyone know what the blank plate part number is or where i can find it. also what modules in for scan do I need to change to get any error messages or DTC to go away. I want to keep the trailer camera and tire pressure monitors (these are not cheats just situational awareness) I have plans for the space where the button goes. I'm either putting a mic there for a radio, a cell phone mount with mag safe charger as the induction charger in the truck doesn't work well with the larger phones in a chase, or a button for an "enable light bar" (use it with the high beams to trigger the led light bar rather than having to hit the button each time). either way, I do not want the stupid knob.

I'm in a 23' PB Lariat

Agreed 100%. Stupid useless things just to charge you more. Just like the wiper fluid for the front camera, parallel parking (now eliminated, because stupid things. My guess is this knob will have the same fate.) auto start stop and several other useless crap. Instead of trying to add functional things

you should buy a truck that does not come with it. Simple enough right
Damn, this triggers a lot of people. It does make it easier to tell who relies on the noob knob.

I got this truck because it was available, and they gave it to me at 20,000$ under MSRP with just 36 miles on it. The truck was 99% the way I wanted it. if I had ordered a truck I would have removed the noob knob from the order. Why is me wanting to make my truck the way I want it so hard for you to understand? I have other plans for that space. it's right next to the wheel and is a prime area. I can mount stuff there and later just buy a new 13$ cover to replace or throw the useless back in for the next poor dude with a man bun who can't back a trailer.

I would suggest Builtright industries, which makes MOLLE racks for the wasted area just above the infotainment screen and for the front seat backs. Cost probably isn't much different from the cheapo plastic space holder, you're not losing any functionality that you paid for, the phone is mounted higher and you can easily mount a dash cam on the same rack.

And while I agree that backing a trailer may be easier by hand with practice, recall that you may not be the only person who ever backs up a trailer in your truck. More capability is always better than less capability provided that the cost isn't prohibitive.

Don’t use it . The knob doesn’t bother me. Where it is either. What Ford should do is take the knob out and put a bigger screen in the place of it .

I would actually recommend the 67 Degree setup over the Builtright. got both and the 67 is a far better build.

the cover plate cost me 13.72$. Again i paid 20,000$ UNDER MSRP so for me to lose this small useless feature is not a big loss.

As for anyone that may drive my truck... if you can't back a trailer.... you don't work with/for me, heck my wife and my sister can both back a boat around any boat ramp and can put any of my trailers anywhere they want. I'm happy to take people who don't yet know and teach them but I'm not going to set up all my trailers with the stupid gimic. plus half the time the camera will be covered with either snow or mud. its something only total noob will use. and if they were smart they would just take their rig to a parking lot and figure it out or get help from a friend and learn....

I'm kinda with ya OP. I wish the stupid backup knob for folks who shouldn't tow was replaced with a rotary gear shifter versus the gimmicky console shifter.

I want to delete it because I want the space to use for other things. I don’t really feel like I paid for it. I basically stole this truck. I got $20,000 off and 1.9% financing for 72 months. The bottom is dropping out of the market right now so if you’re paying full price for a vehicle, you’re getting screwed.

You’ll be far better off taking the time practicing back, backing up a trailer rather than using it to learn how to use the ironically named pro trailer back up assist.

if I had ordered the truck, I wouldn’t have ordered it with it
I think that was my point...what are you going to use the space for??

I bought my truck in 2021, no-deletes and still 20k less than current prices.

I fully know how to back up a trailer, been backing them up for 30 years, but that doesn't mean I'm going to not use new technology..Pretty sure it's call pro back up assist is because the technology allows a novice user to 'appear' to be a pro when backing up a trailer, cause it makes the process more intuitive for someone who hasn't learned to backup a trailer using mirrors and experience.

if you had ordered the truck, you'd still have the pro trailer stuff, it's tied to a lot, if not all tow packages now, I have it because I got the max tow package which in 2021 included it, couldn't not get it.

It's not a gimmick the thing actually works flawlessly and one of the main reason I stick with Ford.

Sure some people live their entire life backing up trailers but not everyone does and when my son started racing at 5 and I was in my 40s this "gimmick" was a life saver at the track. I can guarantee I'm just as good at backing up with this as the ones crying people who use this should pull a trailer.

I feel like I'm in a video game forum with all these almighty amazing back up people making stupid comments like you shouldn't pull a trailer cause you can't back up efficiently without this. What are you 15?

Complete and utter ignorance here. Absolutely sad grown men act and think like this on here. Go back to twitter or reddit and act like this.

This is just sad. Like I said in the original post. It will trigger people. Have fun with the noob knob. Good talk! And yes I’m 15 with multiple trucks, trailers, snowcats, dirt bikes, houses and a wife 🤦🏼‍♂️ learn how to back up. And sorry but there’s no way you’re “as good” all I have to do to slow you down is pull your sticker off!
