It’s a 5.4ish gallon tank that they say lasts 10,000 miles. (I’m guessing it burns more when towing?). Rough estimate after 3700, I’m getting 1800 miles to the gallon. I wouldn’t see a reason to ‘stock up’, after 5-6k you’ll have room to stop at a parts store & put a standard 2.5 gallon jug in. Don’t waste your money on any kind of “Premium” stuff, the cheap house Brand is likely from the same factory, Should cost $12 or so.

I wouldn't worry about the DEF consumption unless you are burning it up like crazy. I never stock up on DEF because it ages, there are dates on containes of DEF. My 2018 with 3.0 gave you a notice on the dashboard that you had 500 miles left before your DEF was empty, if you stopped the engine and started up again it would show the message.
