Dealer messed up my order. Looking for help to see what went wrong.

Hey all,

I custom ordered a truck on Aug 3rd and received my VIN on Sept 21st and the truck is currently scheduled to be built on the day of Nov 8th, as per my chat with Ford Performance Chat yesterday.

Here's the issue, the info that the VIN provides does not match my build what so ever and I still have a copy of my order preview and it is what I signed for on Aug 3rd.
The truck is a different color, different motor, different options..yada yada yada.

Is anyone able to see if modification were made to my order? Perhaps you could PM me. I just want to make sure the dealership isn't BS'ing me.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sure did. Sales rep acted shocked and said he'd get back to me today.
Im just hoping someone here has access to see order information. I just want to make sure my order was put in correctly and that if it was, when was it modified. The dealer can say what they want, I just want to be able to verify it.

I've seen other posts where they omitted an option like the 36gallon tank or something even more minor, but never where they've ordered a whole-ass completely different truck.

Since it is so completely wrong, my first guess would be that the salesperson sent you the wrong VIN and that it's someone else's build.

It's possible that they sent another person your build's VIN and they haven't bothered to check it, so it's just you complaining to the dealer and they haven't figured it out.

I bet that just as many people never think about their truck order until they get a call from the dealer as there are the ones who immediately check out the window sticker, other VIN tools and refresh the build/shipping status three times a day.

Hopefully it's something simple like that, good luck!

Thanks for the info. The only thing that leads me to believe that they didn't send me the wrong VIN is that when I track my VIN, i have to put in the order code as well. Unless my actual order is under someone else's order code/vin....

I'm just trying to get a head of the dealership as we all know how getting accurate information from them can go.

I can look up your order on vehiclevisibility and see any changes and what the current complete build sheet is. Just send me the VIN.

I was under the impression that dealers could submit multiple vehicles under a single order code, so the wrong VIN theory could still be correct.

Volnox was able to confirm that my dealership modified my order several days after I placed it. I will be going there shortly and will update you guys with how that goes. Thanks for the help guys.

That's crazy! What could be the reasoning or motivation behind that?

If it was an honest mistake by the dealer, you might be able to take delivery of the wrong truck while your correct order is built. Either by securing such a good deal that there's no way to lose in trade when the replacement arrives or through the dealership enrolling the 'mistake' truck as a loaner vehicle. I guess it's all on how guilty the dealership feels and how much they want to keep you as a customer.

Otherwise, if you are stuck waiting again, it can't hurt to make a second deposit and order from another dealership as insurance just in case they pull the same or different screwy shit the second time.

a shady dealer would do that so they have few extra trucks to sell since customers will decline the order. Very unprofessional

Hey fellas & gals,

I went to the dealership and spoke with my sales rep as well as the person in charge of putting through orders. Both behaved confused and didn't understand why and I could tell that they didn't expect me to show up with a copy of the visibility report indicating that changes were made on August 7th.

Anyway, the ordering guy asked me if I didn't mind giving him until Monday to figure out what is going on as he needs to talk to the scheduling representative that works at Ford in Toronto (im in Ottawa). I agreed but made it clear to the sales rep and the scheduling guy that I need answers and a solution by Monday, so they should start consulting with their managers today as well.

I don't want to engage asshole mode just yet, but we'll see what they have to say on Monday.
Overall a pretty annoying situation and I still want to expose who modified my order and find out why they did.
