It's probably because you don't have parking mode enabled. I'm just guessing though. Mine works 96% of the time. It's just when I'm crawling along in traffic in electric mode that it sometimes flips into parking mode. I figured out that that OBD-II connector is made by Echomaster (https://us.thinkware.com/accessories/echomaster-obd-ii-power-cable/) and the site says explicitly that it doesn't work with electric and hybrid. I had almost decided that it was working fine somehow but then it flipped into parking mode again yesterday and I decided to post this--Thinkware customer service was right. I'm glad that yours is working for you though. It's probably because you don't have parking mode enabled. I'm just guessing though. Mine works 96% of the time. By the way, the camera is called model DC-E1-FG, which is equivalent to the F70 in terms of hardware but has different firmware. The F-70 doesn't have WiFi. Not sure what you mean about it connecting and disconnecting. Are you sure we are talking about the same thing?: https://accessories.ford.com/products/dashcam-140-dash-camera
I have learned all about Thinkware, Echomaster, the cameras and wiring options, which is EXACTLY what I was trying to avoid by just purchasing that Ford accessories unit. More than anything, I wanted reliable plug and play. Oh well.

This is the one I have, DC-M1-FG. This one has WiFi to connect to your phone. https://accessories.ford.com/products/dashcam-infrared-rear-view-camera-bundle
