I am interested in what everyone uses for dash cams. Ideally front and rear. I still can't believe there isn't a USB port in the headliner, or the ability to record with the built in technology, but there isn't. So, this leaves those of us worried about insurance liability etc looking for a good setup. What cameras are good for the truck, and how are you installing them in the front and potentially rear?

Thanks for the help!

I use Autovox x2 (https://www.amazon.com/AUTO-VOX-Mirror-Streaming-Waterproof-G-Sensor/dp/B07CLYP56B) records front and back. I actually use it as my rear view mirror, I mounted the rear camera on the rear window and it lets me see a wider view of the road. No issue at night, color are vibrant.

Particularly after someone turned left in front of me a week or so ago.
And totaled my FAVORITE pickup

I've used the Roav by Anker Dash Cam C2 Pro for the past two years with no issues at all.

It has saved me twice with insurance and LE.

I also replaced the memory card with a 128gb card.

How did you wire it up?
It comes with a fairly long cord that I tucked (using the included tool) under the headliner and behind the A pillar, behind the glove box and into the USB port in my center console of my 17 Explorer. The cable was completely concealed, not dangling like I've seem others installed.
I'd include pics if I hadn't already gotten rid of the Explorer (too soon) waiting for my F150.

As soon as I get my truck (hopefully soon) I will install using the same approximate route and will post pics then.

So, has anyone considered the setup available thru Ford.
Looks like this is powered thru a jumper at the OBD II port.
Not sure exactly as I did not spend a lot of time looking, but it appears that the port is removed, camera plugged in, and new port moves into original position

My truck will be here in a few days and I giving this some serious thought

My 2019 Raptor I used this dongle to tap into my rear view mirror. I just had to determine which wires were positive/negative.

I would not want to replace mirror in the new truck cuz It has tech for the auto pilot.

I use the same mirror tap cable on my 2018. I don’t know if the 2021 mirrors are the same but on the 18, the green wire on back of mirror is ground and the black is positive. Sounds backwards but it’s not.

I had the ford option installed yesterday. Have not played with it yet or the app.

I use an Escort M1 (front only) because it integrates with my radar detector. Uses the same mount and only had one hardwire run to the mirror.
