Since the day I placed the order for my RCSB I knew I wanted to do some custom seats, especially knowing the XLs get very basic cloth upholstery in them. Being an automotive upholsterer myself, I have lots of experience installing as well as creating custom interiors. I previously did my own Bronco interior with something really custom, on the F150 I wanted to keep it a little more simple. Decided to just go all black with custom insert stitching, grey contrast stitch on the face with just a little bit of blue stitch to match the exterior colour on the outside of the seats.
It would’ve been easier to just order a pre made leather kit from Katzkin or the like, but where’s the skill in that? Everything was cut and sewn by hand using 100% top grain leather. Even added map pockets on the seat back (another thing reg cabs lose out on).
While I had the seats out, I also removed the vinyl flooring to install carpet, plus did some sound deadening to the rear cab wall as my regular cab folks will know that’s where a lot of the road noise comes in from. Huge difference that is immediately noticeable, I think the carpet helps a little too. I’m also leaning heavily in to installing a console in place of the middle jump seat, I think it would look better with the seats. I had already previously added the upper storage in mine, as well as driver lumbar support and OEM leather steering wheel.
