Getting ready for a solo multi month cross country road trip to visit National Parks and hiking. Was thinking about a roof top tent, but this fits my needs better.

1. Removed passenger side front and rear seats.
2. Built a platform bed
3. Cut a twin size 6 inch memory foam mattress to width

Sounds like a blast! …and if you’ve got a PB you can sleep in air conditioned bliss if it gets hot!

Or an electric blanket if it gets cold. He sure has the right truck for this trip.

When you first mentioned this in another post. I was curious if bed across back would be longer than going dash to rear wall.
Looks pretty good on length now
With much room behind driver for stuff

Yep. Dash to rear wall is much much longer than side to side. This mattress is 75" in length.

Yes. A rear belt monitor fault Service Required message on the dash that I have to press the okay button to clear. Also, get the SRS icon light that will stay on, but it isn't annoying. Not a single chime..that's a plus!

Nice and good luck on your journey. I will say this is the one time I would NOT appreciate the swoosh on our front windows! I’d feel too exposed

I made custom window coverings for all 6 windows. They have reflectix on one side and matt blank vinyl on the other side. Especially on the East Coast I sometimes have to use rest areas that are too public.

Yep. Dash to rear wall is much much longer than side to side. This mattress is 75" in length.

75 is pretty good
no toe indents in the dash
the right pillow and you will be comfy

Outstanding! 6 inch memory foam will be significantly better than any roof top tent and no ladders to climb. You still have legal passenger space for 3 in the truck. Well done.

Right? It would also be great to integrate the 360 cameras into an early warning system while the PB is idling quietly with the windows up and blacked out.
