New 22 F150 Lariat and 2 months into ownership. I plan to purchase the Premium plan as I have until the 36 months is up but seeing inflation I wonder how much "MORE" it will cost factoring inflation into it? Can anyone comment on previous prices and mitigating risk just buy it now managing my risk for the cost of 8 year/$0/60K mile Premium plan? Thanks for any info - Google did not help searching past ext warranty pricing.

Plans are cheaper if you buy it in the first 12 months of ownership. After that rates go up.

This is correct, I waited until my 12 months was almost up, glad I got it when I did.

If you wait past 12 months it goes up $100 but if you’re not sure you want to keep it past 36 months it would be best to wait till the factory warranty is about to end.

So if it goes up by $100 after 12 months, that could still be worth it to me (at least here where it will cost me around $3k for the warranty). Does it go up every year of ownership or just after the first?

Goes up 100 just after thefirst year. If you decide to sell the truck at 3 years, you will be paying for the first 3years of the ESP. The ESP starts at the first day of ownership, not when the 3 year 36000 ends.

I spoke with Zeigler yesterday, rates are going up October 4th.

They said Ford won't tell them how much rates are going up until the 4th. So it might be a good idea to lock in you price now.

Not just with Zeigler of course but with Granger, Flood and all the others that sell the ESP & Maintenance plans.

Of course most likely the only way to lock in at the current prices is to purchase before the 4th, not sure how long quotes are good for so if you get a quote before the 4th you will need to ask how long they will honor it.

You don't have to buy from your dealership. These plans are available online through a number of dealerships. When I bought my truck, I showed the finance manager my quote from Flood and they matched the price. He was actually ticked (or seemed ticked) that another dealership was able to offer a lower price, as he claimed (and showed me on his screen) that the pricing was coming from Ford. While the ESP is backed by Ford, it just made sense to me to buy local, if they matched the price.

Doesn't really matter which dealer you buy ESP from. Ford updates the warranty date on the truck, it will show up in the app. Your dealer service guy will not know or care where you bought ESP from.

True for 49 of the 50 states here in Freedom FL most out of state places that offer sales online (if not all) will not sell to you if you live here. Warranties are sold at MSRP here no matter what.

Even if my dealer wanted to match, they could not. To top it off, even if an out of state company wanted to, not only could they not sell under MSRP to Floridians, they must also register as a licensed insurance broker in the state of florida.

*There is some speculation that a "broker" could sell under MSRP, but if they do so they are required to sell at that price to all consumers. It can't be on an individual basis. If this is true most places just charge MSRP knowing that it is unlikely that any other FL companies would ever charge less. Any companies looking to sell from out of state would still have to register in the state as a licensed ins broker and deal with any headaches that accompany that. Not worth it to them.

**None of this is really on topic to this thread, I just get worked up everytime I think about it.

Buy now or buy later was my dilemma too! Given the theatrics of the last few years, availability in X number of months was a big question. Bought now. How long will Granger or other specialists be able to make deals?

From what I've seen on the "always reliable" Internet, these trucks seem to be visiting Mama Ford more than some years past. How many times do you want to argue with a service department about a rental or loaner car? Get the rental car 1st day and always have a ride home.

As always, YMMV, AFAIK and don't try this at home, we are trained professionals.

I don't disagree. From my point of view, if you can get the warranty locally for what you can get it at Flood or Ziegler, why not do that. 6 years from now when the Service Manager is arguing with you about something, at least you can say "I bought this warranty through your dealership".
