The 5.0 is quicker than the 3.5L in 2021, everything else equal? Doesn't make much sense to me, but then again I've only seen specs on the powerboost 0-60 (which obviously is quicker). I would have thought it would still be slower, both from a weight perspective, and the power curve differences.
No, no, I was wrong I misread the 3.3 as 3.5.

XL 2dr Regular Cab 6.5 ft. SB (3.3L 6cyl 6A)5.9* sec
*outliers at 7.3 sec

XL 2dr Regular Cab 6.5 ft. SB (2.7L 6cyl 10A)5.9* sec
*outliers at 6.5 sec

XLT 2dr Regular Cab 6.5 ft. SB (3.5L 6cyl Turbo 10A)5.9 sec

King Ranch 4dr SuperCrew 5.5 ft. SB (5.0L 8cyl 10A) 6.2* sec
*4 door, 4x4

2020-
XL 2dr Regular Cab 8 ft. LB 4WD (5.0L 8cyl 10A)5.9 sec

Not sure where you’re looking but the ecoboost is almost a second faster than the 5.0 in 0-60 and in the quarter mile…
Your right, I misread the article. It was fast than one of the powerboots. But I think you're thinking of a Chevy... It's not that much faster. It's the same in the 0-60 and 1/4 mile from the 2020 models. I couldn't find '21 runs.

You guys are looking at apples & oranges here on that chart.
Cannot really call an XL vs XLT vs King Ranch as a fair comparison, and on top of that, Super Crew vs short bed vs long bed.

several hundred pounds between trim levels and configurations.

Fair fight would be virtually identical trucks with the 3.5EB vs 5.0NA

what is not mentioned is the final drive ratio.
3.31 vs 3.73 will make quite a difference.

so, this silly chart means squat in the grand scheme of things

I moved from a 2017 3.5ecoboost to 2021 v8, the sound alone is worth all the lost of low end torque.

The drivetrain in the 5.0 feels so much smoother than the turbo trucks. You won't be disappointed.
thats good because Ford is building my ordered truck on Tuesday :)

I just ordered mine with a V-8. I didn’t like the on or off type delivery of power with the 2.7’s I test drove. Plus realistically I can’t see driving an eco-boost in sport mode at all times. So outside of boost it just felt like a naturally aspirated six cylinder to me .

I had a platti 2020 ecoboost rental. It had to be 2.7 that thing was a dog until it built boost. I could see a 3.5 being decent. But there's no way I could go to the 2.7 from the 5.0.

Common man, stop living in 2016... the 2021 3.5 is almost half a second slower in the 0-60 than the 5.0. In 2020, they ran identical times. Now the 3.3L...that thing is like a full 2-3 seconds slower than everything else.
Is this true? I am not sure? When I bought my 2016 the 3.5 Eco was winning all the drag races over the 5.0.

Edit: I should have continued to read the thread I knew he was wrong. Just goes to show you cannot always believe what you read on the internet!

Yeah, I corrected myself. 3.3 is slower. For the record, the 0-60 times are now identical. 5.9 seconds. You V6 guys are wrong as well. It's not faster, not anymore. It's not like it was in 2016. And the 5.0 got stomped on before, and imo, it was due to that low redline. The 5.0 redlines at 6800 now and pulls all the way through.

I have the V8. Drove the 3.5 EB. Sure there's a bit more snot at initial pedal stab with the EB, but the V8 likes to rev, and its a very strong, predictable rev. My buddy has a 3.5 EB in his 21 XLT. same gas milage as my V8. Cant go wrong, less moving parts, great sound, great grunt.

I have had both 2011 XLT 5.0 w/ 3.73 rear end power was fine with that setup. 2013 XLT and 2016 XLT both 3.5 twin turbo all trucks were 100% trouble free but I only put about 65K on them. I did like the power of the 3.5 towed 7500# once a year 2000 miles.

I am looking at 2022 Tremor now so that will have to be the 3.5 but if I do not go with that I may get a XLT or Lariat with the 5.0 have not driven one of them in a few years. So I definitely need to test drive one.

Quite frankly, I must be missing the type of vehicle and its purpose when reading these posts. Are we talking about a truck or a race car? Over the decades I have had many Ford pickups from my first 1970 thru many more until I just purchased my 2021 PB and sold my 2010 Sportrac. Not one time did I ever envision my truck as a race vehicle that I purchased to outperform other vehicles in a quarter mile, 0-60 or 0-100. Suspension, weight and aerodynamics are the opposite of what a race vehicle would be. If one is looking for a quarter mile, stop light to stop light race vehicle, then go for a Mustang, Camaro, Dodge charger, etc, not a pickup truck.
My two cents.

In all fairness, even if it is not why you purchased an F150, it is still a fact that today's F150 is faster than almost any car you could buy in a previous Era of automobile history.

And that Powerboost you just purchased is an amazing example. Turn off traction Control, put it in so-called "Sport" mode, and get it rolling about 5mph and then WOT. (not talking about launching or abusing the drivetrain at all)

It's simply amazing what Ford has done with that package. That's ~600lbs of torque from a bone stock factory tuned oem BRICK. You can't blame folks for noticing and then comparing. Especially a GUY. lol

I'm 63 and a grandpa, but I still can't resist on occasion. ?

I wouldn't buy the 5.0 because you think it's simpler. Or because you think the turbos won't last. I don't think either of those are true. They are both great engines, though. Reliable, powerful, and economical for what they are. I'm very happy with my PowerBoost and view the TT V-6 as a more advanced design.

And whoever said that all of these truck are fast is right. The first gen Countach did a 7.0s 0-60. My PowerBoost does a 5.1s. Incredible.
