Thanks everyone, I will follow up with the dealer about the PCM update. I've been searching on the nhtsa site for the TSBs, is the only way to access these by downloading the large file on their website? I can't find a simple search besides the recalls. Also, is there any way I can tell if I have the latest updates myself? Forscan?

A temporary access license to PTS will list everything related to your VIN.

I think it's $20 for 48 or 72 hours

dealer claimed my brother in laws 2022 lariat with vibrations at 400 miles was 3 quarts low on atf. now waiting for new tires

I would not be surprised.
But I also would want to know what procedure they used EXACTLY to measure the fluid level.

It's not convenient to do it properly.

what is PTS? i've also been experiencing hard downshifts from 4th going down to 3rd gear recently. dealer checked the fluid levels and said everything is fine, they drove it and couldn't replicate the symptoms. i'm getting my truck lifted next week and going to another dealer in 2 weeks (a more reputable one that I usually go to) and having them check it out as well. I wanted to have a record prior to lift that I'm having tranny problems.

PTS is professional technician system or I'm totally wrong because I can't remember.

Same website/software dealers use.
You can get limited access with a Motorcraft non-dealer account and see service manuals and diagrams etc.

Getting documented issues likely won't help if you have a lift for them to point finger at, but it depends on the dealer from what I've read many years on forums.

The way you have to check the level on this tranny amazes me.

It's only crazy because they have removed the underhood dipstick.

I know that manufacturers want us to leave our modern vehicles alone and trust everything to the dealership, but the unintended consequences is that it now requires more effort than they might be willing to do properly.

You can purchase an aftermarket 10r80 transmission dipstick that extends up into the engine bay. But it's ridiculously expensive because there's no competition for the product.
