Just took my 21 PB in for oil change and tire rotation. Got a call that the bolt connecting the hub to the Axel was snapped when they took off the rear drivers side tire. I read on another forum that other have seen this, but wanted to see if that has been seen/reported here? I havnt found a thread on it, so thought I’d post this.
I have the Max tow on my truck, so it is the 3/4 floating Axel. The bolt was broken long enough that the hub also needs to be replaced due to rounding out some. The truck is serviced ever 5k miles, so I’m not sure when it happened, but that’s the longest it could have been.
Ford tech line stated that they don’t know of this type of problem, but I read elsewhere that it has been happening a lot on the Max Tow versions. Anyone here have this problem? They are replacing the Axel and hub for me, but will take the truck out of commission for a week or so, and the dealership is out of loaners.
