Hey Guys,
Has anyone else had issues installing the Ford box link cleats in their bed? I got one of the 4 in place. There is no way the other 3 are going in. Without some sort of modification.

Actually, if you hold them exactly square to the plate, they will wiggle in.

I used a little oil on the cleat and it slid right up. You could use a little grease also or use a small file on the cleat.

Thanks. I’ll give it a shot.

Oddly enough I just got done installing mine after my Retrax Pro XR.
They slid / wiggled right in with very little resistance.
Lock side down, ensure it's unlocked by turning the key clockwise, and slide that shit in.
Was done with all 4 in less than a minute.

Oh man. I’ve been messing with these dang things for 45 minutes and I’m drenched in sweat. I had the factory spray in bedliner. I wonder if that creates a tighter fit. I’ve even beat on the damn things with a rubber mallet..

I had to remove the bracket to install the cleats. The factory spray-in Bedliner was preventing the install. Took about 15 minutes total to remove them and reinstall them.

These aren’t easy to install! I lightly tapped them up in the mounting plate with the rubber hammer and was able to then lock ‘em in place. Persever Lpetters84.

Same problem here. I had to drive the screws in with a drill (they are self tapping) and then bang the cleats in with a rubber mallet. The tolerances are so close they just seem to need some good persuasion.

Odd, my brackets weren't covered in the factory bedliner material.

I have factory bedliner too. Mine were preinstalled but really hard to replace when I removed one. Filed down a little of the plastic to make it fit easier

Weird, I have a factory spray in liner as well, mine went in pretty much effortlessly.

Well they are finally in. 1 hour later and I’m pretty sure I lost 10lbs from sweating my ass off in the garage haha. I had to file the plastic inserts on the back side of the cleat and it went right in.

looks like the plastic injection mold didn’t have a clean cut when breaking from the mold.
