Thanks Snakebitten. So 1.7.1 needs to be fixed before anything else will work? That might be where the BlueCruise install jumped the tracks. Now I think maybe I should get 1.7.1 done and simply wait until the OTA process installs whatever I need for BlueCruise.

Cheers
That's correct, you'll never get Blue Cruise without getting past 1.7.1

Thanks for making that clear. I could strangle the service writer at Clermont Ford in Clermont Fla (just in case anyone's thinking of going there) for snickering at me when I told him that and asking where I got my information the internet or something? Moron. I'll head to a different dealer next time.

I would hope that Ford would follow these discussions and report some of the issues back to regional managers. I know many dealers are doing a great job taking care of their customers.

Never ever ever mention the internet to a salesman, service writer, or technician.

They roll their eyes and automatically see you in an insulting light.

I'd have no problem with answering - "yeah, I did actually. Several heads are better than one, and there happen to be several motivated engineering types on these boards, spending their own time and money figuring out FDRS and buying subscriptions & cables with their own time and money. The bigger question is why YOU (Dealer/service dept) don't have that shared passion to figure this out?" At that point, just stare at them and embrace the crickets.

Not that we need to agree and not trying to be difficult, but I have a very different take on this.

There's a notable difference between information sharing and trying to inform vs being a know it all to the dealer. Since this is new technology to many of these dealers and service departments, letting them know that there is more recent information out there doesn't have to be insulting. Obviously, it takes a certain delivery to accomplish. People at the dealership can embrace it (and be an above average shop) or they can be insulted and be a 1-star shop. They largely control their own ranking.

I actually don't disagree with you at all. I'm one of the people who bought the adapter and an annual license to FDRS and successfully updated my 2021 Job1 Platinum Powerboost all the way to current available status. And the truck is awesome now. In so many ways.

Still, nobody in the dealership industry even wants to listen for 5 seconds to my encouragement regarding. It's as if the mere mention of forum or internet is an immediate shutdown of them listening to me. I'm not defending them. In fact I think they are ridiculous for being so defensive.

Why is Blue Cruise avaiable in other places but not my dealer in Miami, FL? Does not make sense to me.

Bluecruise isn't something you download.
Nor is it available at one dealership and not available at another.

Rather Bluecruise requires multiple computer modules in the truck to have the latest version of software updates on them in order for various features to be supported. Bluecruise being one of those features. Cameras at speed being another.

The real reason it is so difficult to get all the modules updated to the latest version is that Ford's ambitious OTA method of updating has so far failed to perform. The alternative is for the dealership to directly update the modules using FDRS. (Ford Diagnostic & Repair software) But the vast majority of technicians/mechanics have little expertise with the new system. Most of their experience would be with Ford's previous program, IDS. FDRS is for 2021+ F150 and Mustang Mach-E.

I like many others have had my truck in to the dealer to attempt to get BC enabled. After 3 visits of multiple days the say they are at an impasse. I'm currently on 2.4.4. I'm not sure what my options are, will the OTA version eventually get me to the 2.5.3 or can it only be done via FDRS?

if they are stuck then most likely you have a corrupted module and OTAs will not move forwards either
