My 2021 3.5 is in the shop now (since yesterday). No word yet on what the issue is. Blue smoke on startup (warm and cold) and 2 quarts low at 2100 miles. Another quart low at 2700. There is definitely something major going on.

what's the hold delay? (have they not found the problem/fix or are there parts delays or?)
sounds like a Tesla! : ) kidding (mostly)
fwiw. I have 6000 long haul miles on my F-150 Prius and so far, all it uses is a little more gas than EPA rated (shocking.)

Took awhile to diagnose, Ford had to approve fix, new engine had to be ordered, gaskets back ordered, time to take the engine out and put new one in. They gave me a loaner F150 to drive, but it isn’t my truck. Every little step just takes time.

I don’t believe I called the engine a part! If I did, sorry but I don’t have a complete list of all of the “parts” of an engine. I just call that a lumping or rounding error.

Sorry, that was a bit vague of me. I didn't mean you, I meant the dealership or car makers in general – really, it's the way of manufacturing for 20+ years – nothing is repairable, everything is part … don't train service techs to repair in the field, use computer-guided maintenance and turn techs into parts-swappers … that's best for the bookkeepers.

Just like the good ol' days … always carry a quart to top up every 2000 miles … now I have to go out and check my engine again … my wife would call this "playing with the new toy."

OK, so I checked, it's close to the top of the stick.
I don't know if the factory fill of 6 quarts goes right to the MAX dot, I assume it's more like the top of the crosshatch.
Looking a little dirty, but ok.
First change is 10K miles, so I think that will happen on schedule.
I didn't find an oil usage spec, but Ford says the break-in period is 3000 miles, as usual.

Can I assume we have a mix of powerboost and regular 3.5l ecoboosts having issues? I am with Don in that we need to figure out engine build dates.....Hopefully this is just a small run of screw up and not the full line! I mean really the engine has been used for lots of years and this year they drink oil? This is my 4th 3.5l ecoboost in a vehicle and the only one with a drinking problem....

Mine is just a 3.5 EB, no PB. Am I correct, isn’t the PB just an EB with an electric motor booster on the transmission?? Anyway, this is my second 3.5EB, the 2015 one was absolutely flawless! The MO truck is a 3.5 EB. Have you taken yours back to your dealer? My FordPass says that my truck is in a Deep Sleep so I am guessing they have pulled the engine??!!

Mine was built in Kansas City, pretty sure in March. Owned a flawless Expedition with the 3.5 just prior to this and have a few close family members with 3.5s and no issues. Mine is still at the dealership-no diagnosis yet.
