It’s a miracle! I passed on your advice and after a few hours at the dealer everything is now working. So nice to have my truck back. Ford should have you on staff and heavily compensated.

I suspect that there ARE some at Ford that very much appreciate what he has done for so many of us. Afterall, it's the only source of good press regarding their dismal OTA launch.

But those same folks could NEVER give an official thumbs up. There's too much legacy influence still alive and well in the establishment.

Just my opinion

I have been trying to get my bluecruise updated through my dealer for the past 2 weeks. Similar stories to what was reported by others--Took it in two weeks ago, they had it for about two days, said they performed the downloads and it was working, but when I picked it up I did not have bluecruise and my hands-on lane-keep assist was no longer working.

Took it back a few days later because they said they found another module they needed to update. They even said they took it for a drive for 20 miles and confirmed everything was working... this is what truly upsets me because clearly they have no idea what any of these systems are supposed to do. The truck was the exact same way as when I dropped it off- no blue cruise, no lane keep assist.

Now they have had it a 3rd time, for 4 days so far. The only updates and progress I have been given is that they needed a part from Ford, which is being sent to them and should have arrived yesterday.

I called Ford between the last attempt and the current one (ongoing now) and not only were they NOT helpful, but they bounced me around to 4 different departments and could not offer any assistance as to what the Dealer needs to do to make it work. My FordPass app still only shows that BlueCruise is "coming soon" in my connected services, so I am not even sure what will trigger that changing (and neither is the dealer).

Any help would be greatly appreciated. VIN is 1FTFW1EDXMFB76941

Glad to hear you got it working. Glad to hear even more they listened to you when you gave them advice. That is not typical

Edit - Just looked at the log and they did exactly what I suggested nothing more nothign less.

I’m certain they were sick of me constantly calling. We didn’t make any progress until I received the two OTA updates which finally got things moving in the right direction. Not sure if I received those updates because I opened a case with Ford corporate or if it was just dumb luck. But they did finally get it to a state where the dealer could push it over the line with Jesse’s advice. Knowing virtually nothing about these trucks, my only advice would be to be a squeaky wheel because these dealers are in over their head with these software updates and are happy to push it to the side. Can’t say I wouldn’t be too. Hopefully your service managers are as receptive to Jesse’s advice as mine was.

I'm going on a long road trip to Montana and South Dakota so I brought my truck in to get the Blue Cruise update. Happy to say that my dealer in Scottsdale, Chapman Ford, updated my 2021 KR with BC on the first try. I dropped it off Monday afternoon and picked it up Thursday afternoon after they did the BC update, 3 recalls and the 10K mile service. BC was fully functioning on the ride home. Based on my short drive, I don't think it's that big of an improvement over the factory adaptive cruise control. There are so few highways out here that are on the BC map, I don't think it's worth paying for it after the 1 year free subscription unless Ford ups their game. And now we have the new Nag when driving on adaptive cruise control telling us to "keep our eyes on the road" even when BC is not on. I am not impressed at this point. Maybe I'll warm up to it once I spend more time driving on roads that support it.

I agree.
It's really the Adaptive Cruise /Lane Keeping that makes up 90% of the Bluecruise experience. Which I absolutely enjoy, to be clear. The option of "hands free" itself is almost a novelty cherry on top. Looks cool on the dash screen, but doesn't improve the experience itself.

You have an issue with the IPC(Cluster) Half the update loaded. bad thing is it was the Small half. The large half didnt. So before you can get any further that has to be fixed. The dealer wont be able to. Youll have to decide to do it yourself. Otherwise youll be chasing this forever.

Can you expand on that a bit… what specifically is it and why would the dealer not be able to fix it? The truck is less than a year and and everything should be under warranty. If it’s something keeping BC from working, I would hope it’s something they will fix.
Thanks for all you’re help btw. You seem to be the only one that knows anything about how to make this work, so you’re a saving grace to all of us!

The dealer cant fix it. Its an issue with the way the updates work. They messed it up and really only way to handle it is outside the dealer framework. Im helping several people right now load files onto the cluster. Ford is clueless and so are the dealers. Your truck right now is in limbo. There is no path forward until the IPC id fully updated. No way they can do it. I can.. they cant.

Edit - if there is a chance that the missing file loads it would be a small chance the dealer can try a PMI. I would not get your hopes up but there is a chance.. I dug a bit deeper and it does see the FDA file as a valid package on your vin. The others it didn’t.

PMI. When it asks if original module is installed they need to select NO! Very important they select no.

This will hopefully kick off the update through usb but again this is small chance

Or, they won't, even if they could.
So they can't.

I must have had a rough day because I feel like I've been roasting the pro's all day. 🤣

gotcha. So what would I need and need to do to make these updates? And what updates are required by me?

I did add an edit but there is a thread on how to update yourself. Again the edit is just a Hail Mary. I also will add the chance the dealer listens to any advice is small. So always a chance I never say never.

As of now your options are those I laid out.

Your best chance is to bite the bullet and do it yourself. This will guarantee success and no more wasted days at the dealership. Some though just seem to not accept that until they have been completely defeated.

Totally disagree. If you have long drives on any major interstate. It works very well. Nice to relax your arms for long periods. Have used mine extensively and it does improve over time. Doesn’t cons nag me for eyes on the road and I wear good sun glasses most of the time Is it perfect? No. But for a first hands off driving it’s better than expected.

You really, really, go long periods of time without touching the steering wheel?

I admit that I have taken my hands off the wheel reminding myself that I can, but within a short amount of time every instinct I have results in me at least touching it. Albeit, one hand very relaxed.

Exactly the same as when Bluecruise momentarily disengages for the various circumstances that trigger it to disengage.

I just spoke with the service advisor at the dealership and they said they are replacing the entire IPC (cluster behind the steering wheel). I would hope that would fix the problem… what are your thoughts?
