Received my order from Shock Surplus This morning and was able to install the struts and shocks within a couple hours.

My truck has under 1,200 miles and while the soft ride is pleasant, I quickly realized the suspension is too compliant for my liking. This may be partially due to my prior truck being a 1999 F250 with the 7.3 diesel, but it did too much tossing when driving over transitions and such. Additionally, the truck had 3.75" rake which is a bit much.

Ordered from Shock Surplus since they offer the service of having the strut retainer already installed for you with the strut set to your desired height setting, which in my case I chose 1.5".

Install was easy front and rear. I did opt to use two sets (4 total) generic 5160 clamps instead of the hose clamps provided with the rear shocks. Here

The result is I now have 2.25" rake, and a much more controlled ride from what I can tell with a short test drive. It is much better IMO and can recommend this ride if you have a similar opinion of the factory ride.

yep

How were you measuring your factory rake? I've seen other folks state theirs to be around 2" so your measurement seems really out of range.

What engine do you have? I have 5100s sitting in the garage for the rear and hope to nab the 6112s for the front next spring. Having the hats in place for.Shock Surplus is ideal. I'm leaning towards the 1.5" setting as well. Truck looks great!

Floor to edge fender through center of each wheel hub. Front was 37", rear is 40 3/4". Front is now 38 1/2".

3.5EB. Not sure if the 7,150 GVW package makes the rear higher or not. Thanks!

My 2.7EB supercrew with a 5.5' bed has the same fender to ground clearance as you listed. I'm just curious if the 2.7 is lighter than the 3.5 and would get any higher than 38.5 in the front of I set the 6112s at the same setting.

I would not expect much difference and would just follow the normal guidance for ride height.

What a nice set up mate and you don’t break the bank. Bilstiens are the real deal , the 6112 is a super nice set up and the everyday drive is fantastic as a buddy just did the same thing on his truck.

The 2.7 is lighter and ur truck probably has lighter front springs. If u look at your front weight rating u can figure out what your factory spring rate is and compare it to what comes on the Bilsteins. There’s a chart somewhere, u can probably google it.

I'll take a look. I do have the payload and towing packages as well so maybe that has an effect. Sounds like some fun research though.

Hmmm, hadn’t thought about all the variability. I’ve an s-cab FX4 7050 so i
guess i will just measure mine and use the correct shock lift for my mod. Wonder if it will mess w my scales though.

Just out of curiousity, are you considering swapping out your UCA to restore the travel lost by the lift?

Preload-levels don't change the travel of the stock components. At full droop the arms are in the same place as on a stock truck. The shock doesn't get any longer, it's just at rest in a different spot.

New arms do switch to an upper ball joint that is positioned better for the stresses it experiences, but that doesn't gain you any travel.

Spacer-levels can cause issues, depending...

Took the truck to a local, independent shop for alignment today. It needed no adjustment. Truck drives perfectly straight and centered, good to go.

Nice. I just put on the 6112s in the front and 5100s in the rear. Love the 2.5" Bilsteins!
