So I’ve had my powerboost for about a week now. It’s been amazing. I’m in construction so the generator is a huge help. But, I think I found the best use for it! CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS!!!

All you have to do is plug them into the built in generator and turn on pro power on board. I can control it all from the cab and in the bed.

Has anyone been able to control the generator from the Ford app. Without first going inside the cab and starting the truck???

I only have the 400W single plug in my bed, and it still runs the blow up just fine while the truck is on. When its off, I roll up the cover so he can take a nice little nap! ? ?

I will need to find a better means of keeping his butt in the bed, though! Just a short, slow drive and he looked carsick!!

Interested in your tonneau cover. What brand/model is that and how to do you like it?

Has anyone been able to control the generator from the Ford app. Without first going inside the cab and starting the truck???
You could until recently. Either the FordPass update or the OTA update(s) have recently broken the ability for FordPass to be recognized as a Bluetooth connection. Unless FordPass is recognized as a Bluetooth connection, the ProPower functions are not extended in the app to allow full control. Instead it is recognized as a cellular connection and only monitoring ProPower is available.

Below is the explanation for the difference between Bluetooth and Cellular regarding ProPower remote control from FordPass :

Note that this is a screenshot of my FordPass App while connected to the truck via Bluetooth. The app no longer recognizes it as Bluetooth, but rather cellular, thus the Generator mode control buttons aren't available:

I sure hope Ford addresses this because I was able to start the truck remotely, then make the Bluetooth connection, and then launch Generator mode from inside the RV. All while still barefoot and in pajamas. I'm spoiled!

Note: I actually did what I have never done before and spent the time and effort to get through to someone at Ford Customer Service that knows the Powerboost and the FordPass App and has bug reporting tools for the software development team.
Or put another way, I was able to successfully convey the very specific issue related to FordPass and Bluetooth and extended functionality for Onboard ProPower.
It took a bit of effort to sweet talk call transfers since the folks that take the initial customer calls haven't a clue what a Powerboost F150 is. Lol
Anyways, I was told by the final fella that I collaborated with that it IS the customers that get through to his department that have the most influence on FordPass development.
I also mentioned that Ford should have a better procedure for FordPass bug reporting and that it should be digital based so it is documented. But I am confident that he was able to adequately document for us, in this case.
Fingers crossed!
I will report if I experience the remote Onboard ProPower functionality returned.
