Bedrug recommendations?

Wondering what the best options are. Going to have a topper and wanted a bedrug for the dogs - mostly using the truck for camping / off-roading.

I've had both in my trucks over the years and both are great options but ultimately I prefer the just bottom/tailgate option as the added coverage for the rest of the bed didn't justify the increased cost.

My favorite is the impact bed mat (over the XLT) but I don't put dogs back there so I could see the XLT being a better fit for you.

Bedrug universal cut to fit on top of decked drawers, on top of impact full bedrug liner on top of lineX.
Overkill maybe, but it’s going to be the interior of a topper/living space.
the vertical tailgate edges of the bedrug are left unsecured because that is a project itself(have a plan to seal tailgate further, along those edges)

I don't believe there is necessarily an official/recommended way. It's somewhat of a MOD but a very popular one. It worked well for me and I'll be keeping it this way. More on the topic below.

Concur. I've had a Bedrug in my last 3 trucks. If I hauled lots of heavy equipment, or lots of sand and rocks, I might do differently.

I went with just the mat on top of LineX. Have done a couple camping trips sleeping on back, going to make a platform this winter.
