When I talked to Ford they told me the BlueCruise subscription stays with the owner & VIN together NOT the owner OR truck so if I sold it with time remaining on my 3-year subscription both myself and the new owner lose it.

If I trade the truck after two years and there is one year left, I CANNOT transfer it and lose it.

I am very curious to know if that remaining year continues to work after the VIN transfers to you in all Ford servers.
So I purchased a used 2022 in June of 2024. I did the factory reset on the infotainment system and then added the truck to my Ford Pass app. Once complete the remaining subscription time for both BlueCruise and Connected Navigation as well as Alexa was added to my account. The three year complementary trial expired 1/9/25 and I was able to then renew it. Now I know the remaining time does seem to extend for the complementary trial but I am not sure if there is a paid subscription if it will transfer with the vehicle or not.

I have heard though that after the trial period ended for some people, that their BC trial length was increased or extended.... but it was kind of scattered between model years! it was strange especially when some people were paying for BC subscriptions.
I was one of those people.

It started with those of us with 2021 Job 1 trucks that included the 'Ford CoPilot360 Activ 2.0 Prep' package. We paid for the hardware when we bought the truck, but BC didn't work yet. We were promised OTA updates would bring us BC.

A year later, Ford finally got around to pushing some of the required updates out (it took many updates for BC, not just one), but one of the updates actually screwed things up and stopped us from getting future updates.

After ~2 months of the dealer trying to get this fixed (including multiple APIM and one IPMA module replacements) AND me doing updates via FDRS myself, we got it working in early 2022.

IIRC, Ford gave Job 1 owners free BC until the end of the year. As we approached the end of the year, they extended it for us again at no cost. So my freebie trials actually extended my BC until the end of 2023 (over 1.5 years).

In the middle of all this, they changed the pricing of BC from $600 for 3 years to $800 a year! Job 1 owners were pissed, as this was seen as a bait & switch. Ford eventually offered Job 1 owners a one-time offer of 3 years for $600 ($200 a year).

I paid the $600, as I had also just updated my truck to BC 1.4 with lane changes and improved lane centering and predictive speed performance. So I'm good with my BC subscription until April of 2027 in my 2021 truck.

Ford has since lowered the BC subscription price - I think to $495/yr or something like that.

Yes, it's been a mess.

Anyone towing with BC4? I've tried with my 22 PB with I assume 1.0 and it's tried to KILL me every time with the induced trailer sway with the way BC drives drunk between the lines. It's been terrifying.

I'd even pay for BC if I could actually use it while towing.
My 2021 Platinum 5.0L will not use BC if I'm towing.

Yes it has... and I wouldn't/won't hesitate to mention that to Ford Customer service! Especially, due to the delays with updates! It's always best to "under promise and over perform than over promise and under perform" lol

Regardless... I always have to remind myself how far Ford has came since my 2020 platinum... it is truly night and day with lane keeping and adaptive cruise! But Bluecruise is awesome and BC 1.0 was awesome until they came out with the updates/improvements and now BC 1.4 blows BC 1.0 out of the water in my opinion!

I cannot wait for more improvements and updates to BC!

And ya... it is pretty well know that Bluecruise does not work while towing! @TheSnotRocket
Ford never said that it would work while towing, as of now... but you never know about future improvements!

Ford Engineering was involved for the entire 2 months. My truck was one of the first to get a new APIM (custom programmed by engineering and shipped to my dealer) and was one of, if not the, first 2021 Job 1 truck to get BC enabled.

Well that is awesome! That stuff sucks when it happens but at least your truck helped them get things figured out!

Trust me... my truck has been in similar situations but beyond those stumbling blocks... I am very happy with my truck!

Interesting. Maybe I was in normal vs tow mode. Never had an issue with engagement no matter what mode I think I was in. I had the trailer profile running and BC was trying it's best to roll my truck and trailer for sure!

Well you would have had to be in normal and trailer lights not plugged in because the system would detect a trailer with trailer lights plugged in and in normal... tow just locks out 10 & 9 transmission gears and changes shifting pattern..

BLIS is still available with towing as long as you have done the trailer profile dimensions

100% plugged in. My trailer is too heavy to not have brakes over the 7k miles I just pulled it and tried several times not to die.

To be clear... you are claiming that Bluecruise Hands-free driving was active while towing a fully plugged in trailer?

I won't say it is never possible at this time but that is highly highly unlikely! I would definitely need video/photo proof of the event!

My 2023 Platinum is 3yr trial.
Same for me. I bought my 23 Platinum PB used last Nov and it still has the 3 year trial active until next year.

Now the question is will they not send the update to those with a trial and only to those that are on a paid subscription? That would seem a bad strategy if they want us to pay when the trial ends, but worse decisions have been made before.

Ford did some strange changes with the trial period durations for Bluecruise. If I recall correctly below are the original trial length for BC for each model year.

2021 - 1 Year
2022 - 3 Year
2023 - 90 Day
2024 - 90 Day

I have heard though that after the trial period ended for some people, that their BC trial length was increased or extended.... but it was kind of scattered between model years! it was strange especially when some people were paying for BC subscriptions.
Yeah, that definitely changed. My '23 was picked up in Sep 2023. Good through Sep 2026.
