Here's my situation. Ford will hopefully replace the APIM in my truck soon so I can start receiving OTA updates. I can't park my truck in a garage so my question is: Has anyone used a battery tender while your truck is parked outside and were you able to fish the tender wires out somewhere so you can close the hood and be able to enable the alarm? Thank you.

Yes. I have a Noco 10 amp charger/tender. I can use the claw clamps and still close the hood and set the alarm. I run the cable right by the radiator. If you want to permanently attach the leads there are numerous ways to get the cable out to the grill.

you need to turn the charging system up to charge the battery more than 80% (Forscan)
Can you explain this? Does the stock system only charge battery to 80%?

I’m curious what you are talking about here also. Does ford only charge the battery to 80% ? Were is this setting in forscan? Thanks!

Battery Target State of Charge

BCM 726-08-02 xxxx xx** **--

05 00 = 1280 = 80%
05 A0 = 1440 = 90%
05 F0 = 1520 = 95%

I did this on my truck and it definitely worked. I did 95% and it was charging my battery up to 14v 😳

Took it down to 90% and it’s better. Typically see 13v.

Ford probably keeps it lower for battery longevity? Who knows. Either way proceed at your own risk.

Can the dealership do this for me? I'm sure for a fee.

Another vote for the Noco line of products. I have both the charger/tender and the jump pack from them. Look into getting the eyelet attachment, so you can leave it on the battery and remove the tender when not in use.

Also curious about the FORscan change for battery SOC. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you both! Mine is always at 11v...It's been into the dealer and they say that there is "no issue"...

They will not

To get this fixed I either have to buy all the stuff to do it myself or find a friend that has all the stuff to help me out.

Unfortunately yes. But you can ask on this forum if there is anyone close to you that has the experience and equipment to do the job.
