Personally I would regret getting an XL.

Im convinced I would even hate an XLT.

The LED projector headlights & heated steering wheel are musts for me forcing me to 502A MINIMUM.

Also need leather for me but everyone's needs are different.

Im trading my 21 502A Lariat for a 22 King Ranch.

I originally ordered a loaded out Lariat but with the commodity delays ended up getting a Model Y which will be here this week. I still want a truck to do truck stuff, camping, haul the muddy dogs and stuff around so I'm considering to change my order to a barebones-ish XL with vinyl floor and seats, and a few things like the hitch, power equipment, and the emergency breaking stuff. Will I regret this? Is the NA v6 a decent engine if I am not towing?

It looks like it has apple car play included which is great. No heated seats or towing mirrors (without upgrading the engine) so I could add those aftermarket. Same with bedliner.

Does the XL have AC? Is there anything huge I'm totally missing that I should consider?
Go to ford.com and build one. Will see all standard stuff and options.

I ordered a XL RCSB 4x4. Added what i wanted.....5.0. 3.73 locker. 101A. Tow. Plow prep. FX4. Etc. And nothing i did not want like co-pilot 360. and carpet.

The 101A gives you all the power stuff, cruise control, rear parkin sensors.

Nothing wrong with the XL. You can even get carpet, but why? Its a truck. Carpet has no place.

I have an XL STX and love it. The headlights were weak so I replaced them with an alpharex set.

I mean "NEED" is a interesting word.

Obviously I dont "NEED" it.

We dont NEED trucks, cars or really anything.

But I certainly wouldnt want a truck cloth interior though.

Good choice! King Ranch Powerboost is the only higher trim that I would be willing to pay the premium over 302A. Generally I prefer cloth to "pleather" (plastic-coated leather) interiors but the KR is very nice. However at the time I bought it was not worth the extra $25 grand to me.

2021 F150 XL STX
(emphasis added by me)

Wait, you can do this? Or are you talking about how it unlocks when you put your hand behind the handle? I didn't think the F150 had automatically unlocking doors on approach.
If the key is in my pocket, 99% of the time the doors will open when I try to open them without pressing anything. There is the odd time where it won’t work. Maybe my jacket is too thick or something like that.

I’ve been driving pretty base pickups my entire life.
So, over the years I’ve been pretty content with Air/Tilt/cruise.
All manual 4spd pickups (and my 98 Chev 5spd)
I stepped up just bit when I ordered the 21 F150
This is my first truck with power windows and auto trans.
I went with an XLT just for the tan interior and bucket seat/console.
Ordered what I wanted and did not order stuff I did n it want..
Halogen headlights are not an issue for me and 80% of my driving is at night in the boonies.
Pretty pleased with my mid level XLT 5.0/4x4/SuperCab/8’

but, gotta say it did not hold up well to a hail storm recently
What literally bounced off my old Taurus and 98 K1500 leaving only a couple of marks caused $6200 in divot damage to my new Ford
Roof and hood look like someone had been bouncing on a pogo stick on the truck

order an XL 101@ ore a base XLT for a couple of frills and appearance.
Not sure that either of these come with a receiver, but if you order the receiver you should get the wiring as well

An XL can be a lot of different trucks, depending on drivetrain.

If I was using words like "camping" in my intended use, I would seriously look at the XL Powerboost

That's NOT the XL F150 of our past. Sure, it's not a leather wrapped KingRanch luxury machine, but it IS a 600lbs of torque towing monster with 2000lbs of cargo capacity and 7.2KW of rolling power grid.

Go anywhere and do anything and be completely comfortable with all the conveniences of home brought along.

MSRP ~43K

Loving my STX, which is XL, but I wanted STX package, no chrome.
It was basic.
But level, wheels and tires, powered steps, Katkin leather...much better.
