Wouldn't it be a bait and switch if you put an order in, sign off on it, then months later find out there removing features?

Why do you think they make you sign off on those feature removals before you actually purchase it?

Can't buy it if you don't sign off on the removals. When it arrives and you start on the paperwork, this is one of the papers you have to sign.

You're not obligated to buy it, thats how they get away with it
That's not what a bait and switch is though, it's when the seller gets customers by advertising for something that doesn't exist, or makes changes to it (usually to sell them something more expensive). I know it's not apples to apples but seems like a modern version of it for sure

You don't need to buy anything for a bait and switch to happen, it's a way for a company to trick potential customers into buying something they don't want or didn't expect

Ok, not going to argue, but while feature removals royally suck, I wouldn't call this bait and switch. It's not like you would be paying for the features that are moved, although some of the credits are laughable.

Now if they were advertising a low price, you go to buy the truck and they tell you it's not available or something happened to your order then try to sell you a more expensive vehicle, that would be bait and switch.

I'm not a Ford apologist, my chip hold experience absolutely put a bad taste in my mouth, but im sure Ford intends to sell you as much as possible and doesn't like removing options.

I agree with you to a point; but with the low credit they give on removals, I would bet that they make close to the same profit on the truck without the features that were removed. I think that is one advantage of packaging items, if they remove an item that was part of a package, there is no way to go back and determine how much the truck would have cost if ordered without the missing feature.

There is no doubt the customer is getting the shaft

First, you 100% have to actually purchase the item to be a victim of bait and switch. That's like saying you don't have to have anything taken from you for it to be a robbery. It's a crime with a legal definition.

They have to tell you it comes with Unicorn leather, you buy the item, and then find out it's pig leather...that's bait and switch.

You ordering an item, then them telling you it can't be made as such, and then making you sign an agreement (when you pick up the truck the dealer has a document to sign, they've been posted and you can find them on here) that explicitly states you know it's not coming with certain features, is not bait and switch.

Bait and switch is an advertising scheme, not theft.
If you go into a store based on an ad to find out it's not there and they try to sell you something else, that's bait and switch

In some cases, I should say. For example, if they run out of the product it wouldn't be
