I had a wheel bearing go out on my 2021 STX with 24,000 miles, stock wheels and tires no leveling kit etc. My pickup has been in the shop 7 weeks, they still haven’t been able to get me a bearing. I’ve been given 2 off backorder dates, and called Ford directly when I got the 3rd off backorder date. They started a case and claimed that the dealer hadn’t “elevated the claim”, and so that’s why I wasn’t getting parts. Then they said they would call or email me an update in 2 days on when I could expect the parts. 3 days later, no call or email so I called them again. They said they’d have someone “look into it” for me and get back to me.

Has anyone else had this issue? For a wheel bearing to go out with 24,000 miles on it is unusual, but to be waiting 7 weeks for parts with still no estimated time of getting it fixed? Ford won’t pay for any more than 4 days of a rental vehicle. Luckily the dealership had a loaner car for me after my pickup having been there for 3 weeks already. Anyone else had a similar experience?

Good morning. I'd like to look into your trucks wheel bearing delay on my end. To get started could you please send over a private message with your VIN and the name/location of the dealership you are working with?

I believe you are the first to report a failed hub assembly. Unfortunately any item can fail at any time no matter the age, but usually hub assembly's last much longer. Not surprised that you are experiencing parts availability problems as they have been reported all thru this forum. A quick check thru the internet shows Napa listing the part but not in stock, Advance, Rock auto , and Auto zone don't list any hub assembly's for our trucks. It is unfortunate that you are waiting so long. I have always said that communication with the customer goes a long way, but this practice has gone the way of the buffalo. Good luck.

Good Morning,

I have a 2017 F150, 4x4. I had the drivers side wheel hub go out about 50,000 the right side went out about 25,000 miles later. Then just yesterday the Drivers side went bad again at 120,000. I am surprised that these go bad so quick and am wondering if its a bad design or supplier is making subpar parts? The first two were covered under warranty. I am hoping the new issue will be also, since its already been repaired previously. I have only once, in my time of driving had a wheel bearing go out and that was a 1978 dodge magnum with 257,000 miles on it. This f150 I bought new and am on number three wheel bearing. SMH

I can only hope the dealer provides a loaner, I don't have the money to rent, especially if there is a parts delay.

Stuff like your bearings happens but the parts delay for something like this is very disappointing to say the least.

Check out thread for front wheel humming/grinding noise. There are a few getting new hub and bearing for unusual noise wear etc.

So another update. My dealership has no loaners, I was told the part (hub) for my truck should be in by Jan 31’st. This is ridiculous, especially since this is the third hub. Sooo now I’m stuck with renting a car for over a month, which I cannot afford. Not sure what I’m gonna do as I work several jobs.

Front end lift kit? Something has the geometry off. To many variables to guess.. they should not fail that often unless extremes are in the road surface or tire pressure is hi like E rated tires at 81 psi, snow plow or 300 lb front bumper.
If you truck is bone stock, I’d look at the knuckle/carrier for being defective. No ball joint failure with two bearing failures is definitely a giveaway that the bearing angle or weight on it is out of spec for some reason.
