How does everyone approach software updates? Do you accepts them all automatically, wait to see if they are stable, or never update?? I've read about people who regret doing some of the updates, so I'm just trying to figure out how to approach this. The Ford app is trying to get me update to PowerUp 3.5.2.

You should green light 3.5.2. It is the basis for full screen Carplay, AA, etc.

power 3.53 is for the full screen CarPlay. 3.5.2 was the Alexa update.

It took 8 months to get my first update on 9/16/22, which was 3.5.2. Ford says this update "will set you up for future ones to come". It's a gateway update you need to get future ones.

That's because you have a 2022 which was built with the latest software already. 3.5.2 and up are the only updates you and anyone with a 2022 would get.

Right. I forgot. I got 3.5.2... then impatient and went the FDRS route. Thanks for setting straight.

The longer you are here, the more you will see people complaining about NEVER getting updates, with that in mind, I will approve and instlal anything right away for fear of the update going away and then having to wait 8 months for it to come around again.

I figure I'd rather have the latest and greatest and if that breaks something, I'll either figure a way to rollback, or in theory Ford should fix it if they broke it. The updates we all want are enhancements, not break/fix

Does anyone know if I can expect to have a functioning full screen CarPlay when I pick up my 2022 some time next week?

Haha, I was just gonna get on here and post that mine has never had a successful update so I don't worry about them, but it would be nice to get caught up eventually.

Ok, dumb question(s)….

Do these Ford automatic update just update the infotainment system? Or do they update the PCM too?

Not a dumb question.

A PCM update updates the PCM
An APIM update updates the APIM (Sync)

Not intending to be snarky. :)

There are as many as 47 different modules. Each module might have an update designated for itself.
Even the passenger side seat has had an update available, for example.
