I just got off the phone with my local Ford dealer and they quoted $35/per U-bolt for the 2 wheel drive ($140 total) and $8 for replacement nuts. If you have a 4x4 and want to ditch the longer bolts and use 2 wheel drive u bolts it's not a cheap mod. If you want to keep the longer 4x4 u bolts then make sure you have washers and a really long deep socket in order to tighten the nuts as there will be a lot of thread showing on the 4x4 u bolts.

I removed the blocks on my 4x4, dropped it about an inch.
It won't really have any impact on towing, however, you may experience a reverse rake with heavier tong weight. I plan on installing airbag helper springs, simply because my last truck had them, and I really liked how that truck towed my camper.

Did you need to adjust your headlights when you removed the rear blocks?

I have a 502A Lariat, so they are auto adjusted anyway, so for me...No.

I wouldn't think that 1" would be enough to change your headlight angle where you would need to readjust it, anyway. But could be something you want to check on.

...The Ford Performance shackles had 24 pages of instructions on how to install by lowering the gas tank. I used the instructions for torquing the U bolts....

Did the instructions provide torque specs for the shackle bolts too?

Ford Performance has a shackle lowering kit that also includes a wedge shaped shim to change pinion angle for driveshaft to be added to spring pack.
Was that for the part number M-3000-HA? The picture on either Summit or Ford Perf Parts doesnt show the wedge. It DOES show it on M-3000-G which is for earlier models. Can you recall which you purchased? THanks

I never followed through with getting kit so do not know answers. My suspension is still stock. I just repeated info that others had posted.

what method did you use to remove top shackle bolts.?
With frame on jackstands, jack up the rear axle until it clears the frame. I dropped my spare tire for for clearance on driver side. There is a wire bundle in the way.

No vibrations? Having the same config truck as I do, I assume you have flat blocks too. Mine has settled in a bit and I removed the rear blocks like 700 miles ago. I never experienced vibrations. Thinking about the geometry, I went with removing the rear blocks to lessen the axle wrap and not alter the spring rate instead of shackles. I was originally going to do mild shackles and bocks, but actually liked just the blocks so much that I returned the shackles.

No issues at all. I got roughly a 1 inch drop out of the shackles. Maybe a tad more. Wanted to remove the blocks along with the shackles but not sure if that's asking for trouble(vibrations)

I just removed my Blocks, it went really smooth, HOWEVER, when I was done I went and checked my rake on both sides and I have a 2" rake still on Driver side and barely a 1.5" rake on passenger side, I thought maybe I did something wrong, so I went back under and double checked everything and everything seems fine. All my tire pressures are right and the fuel tank extra weight is on the driver side so you would think it would the side lower, not higher. Any suggestions, or anyone having the same issues?
