Does anyone really understand that package? I'm looking at an inbound truck that was ordered with the max tow pkg and I just can't figure out how it is $1800+ on a Platinum when a lot of stuff seems to be duplicated. Confused old fart....

It used to cost $1350 until they upped the price in December.

You get a 3/4 floating rear axle, extra leaf springs, heavier duty rear bumper, 36 gallon tank, etc.

The rear axle is the 3/4 floating 9.75” instead of the regular 9.75” and the rear brakes are bigger. It used to be a cheaper option but at some point they increased it more than 50%

The axle itself used to be a cheaper part, barely much more than the regular axle which goes for around $600 and change, now it’s priced at over $2k on Ford parts.

Same situation with me. My dealer told me the only difference is back bumper is beefed up and you also get a circuit board to attach the electronics from trailer.

Your dealer should know there’s more to it than that. LOL.

If I'm not mistaken, besides the different axle the max towing package includes a 4-pin/7-pin wiring harness, Class IV receiver hitch, 3.55 electronically locking rear differential, 36-gallon fuel tank, auxiliary transmission and engine oil coolers, an integrated trailer brake controller, and an upgraded front stabilizer bar.

With the Powerboost, some of that equipment is not used. From what I understand, it has 3.73 gears and a smaller tank and a unique transmission. Big axle and brake controller I guess cover the cost. I'm surprised that every F150 doesn't have a 4 and 7 pin harness standard.

XLT 301A on up should have them as standard.
Should be included in the optional receiver for XL and XLT 300A

The receiver came with my package and it has both, 4 & 7 pin connectors
Those with tow packages that include cameras and sensors will come with a 7-4 pin adapter
