My shifter didn't work yesterday for the first time. Took several restarts before it would let me put it in drive.

I stated in another thread that this massive, overly complicated relic of the past, should be engineered out. Ford should go with a significantly smaller push button setup, add the workspace setup to every F-150 that does not have a bench seat, and make that a Ford F-150 signature feature of the truck.

Other than the fact that mine is starting to not want to shift into drive, i've got no problem with it. I did however like the old type much better. The fold down feature should be optional so i can delete it from my next truck. (if there's a next one in my future that is)

I'm coming from a column to a console. The shifter does "feel" cheap but works. Time will tell if any issues arise.

It's been said many times and remains controversial, but the Ram dial is the way to go here. Check out their truly cavernous and customizable center consoles, and you'd be hard pressed to argue with the dial shifter on the dash. A column shit would be acceptable, too, but it is more dated.

And I don't know why Ram added a console shifter to the new G/T variants and TRX (I think). It's not sporty... It's just a waste of good space.

My wife's Escape Titanium has the dial shifter and we like it. My F150 has the console shift and I like that also. It brings back memories of mid sixties American muscle with a four on the floor.

Fortunately, and happily, my 302A LT came with bench seat and a column shifter. I like it much better than the console and console shifter.

Throwback thursday - At least they didn't call it a "his and hers" shifter like they did back in the hurst days

That being said, both my F-150 and my 4-4-2 have column shifters and bench seats. Dog rides shotgun like a king.

I have the console shifter. Took a bit to get used to but it doesn’t bother me now. I miss the solid feel of linkage. I’m always puzzled by people wanting more cup holders. How many drinks can a person drink at one time? It’s like being a soccer mom in a mini van.

What happened to the "three on the tree". I miss that. :)

More cupholders, no. More space for random crap, yes.

I've gone back and forth with F150 and Ram and I like the dial way better. My 2021 Explorer has one, the F150 should, too.

I don't know...it has always been 'SHIFT INTO GEAR" or "SHIFTING GEARS"...somehow "DIAL INTO GEAR" and "DIALING GEARS" just doesn't work with this old timer. 😉 😉
