Any update on a Trailer TPMS system?

Been looking here an there, not much options, but I have some time till next camping season.
It took me a few months to find one. I actually bought one a couple of years ago that was camera-only, but never got around to installing it. It had been opened but never installed. I later found the <$400 camera/TPMS kit. It was new-in-box and works as described.

I used to try to kludge stuff together but no longer do. I recommend not taking that approach in this case, even if you might be inclined to consider it for other projects.

One disadvantage of the Ford cameras is they're lower resolution than the Furrion I replaced and their perspective does not match what you would see in your rear view mirror. I find it acceptable because I was able to get rid of cab clutter that bothered me.

Oh yeah, IMO ditching cab-clutter with the integrated cam on the dash display is well worth the minor video quality compromise; the image is just fine for backing the trailer and spotting what's behind closer than the side-mirrors show when on the highway. With the integrated TPMS it's a wonderful system for RV folks! (y)

Just a quick question, hopefully it fits in this thread. My new truck has the 7/4 connector, however I prefer using the Yaw Sensor. Is there a way to convert? I may try the stickers once again, but there is very little room on the tongue of my trailer to allow for proper placement.

In short, probably yes, but in my experience, it's not worth the effort. I wanted the yaw sensor to work better than the stickers (which didn't) on my 26' travel trailer. It doesn't.

The camera/TPMS kits that Ford sells comes with a 12-pin socket and a 12-to-4/5 adapter. Your truck has to have the plug for the 12-pin connector tucked up behind the bumper. For a yaw sensor, it has to have at least 2 conductors. For the trailer/TPMS functionality, it needs more conductors (I don't know what the count is but it either has 2, or the full complement.)

I think you'll find it expensive and not worthwhile.

Thanks for the info. I haven’t looked behind the bumper yet to see what’s there. I already have the yaw sensor and used it on my last truck, so I would just require the wiring in place and to purchase the connector.

If you already have the yaw sensor and the harness has a plug for the 12-pin connector, all you need is the connector. I'd get that at a junk yard. Use anti-corrosion grease (I forgot the correct term) in the socket or it will corrode from exposure to elements from the road.

You may need a 7-to-4/5 pin adapter for use with 4- or 5-pin trailer connectors.

Thanks to this thread I was able to get my harness swapped out in my 2021 Lariat and got the camera working for now. I already installed the TPMS sensors in the tires but haven’t had time to install the wiring into the trailer.

However, since swapping out my rear harness, my power tailgate does not work. I too a Quick Look and didn’t see anything obviously forgotten and unplugged, would anyone know what to look for specifically?

Review of the wiring diagrams (including connector faces and location diagrams) for the cam/tpms harness (C423 and others back to the bumper) and the power tailgate harness (C433 / 432 / 431, C425, C4002, C4003, etc) indicates none of those connectors / harnesses / circuits have anything in common.

IOW, everything on C423 (the huge 34-pin connector above the spare tire) is completely independent of the power tailgate system which has its own completely independent harness from the tailgate to the front of the truck.

But all of those connectors are located in the tight spaces where you were working to replace your cam/tpms harness.

Suggest that you carefully inspect all connectors in that area to ensure that nothing was inadvertently disturbed / dislodged, not just the specific connectors you meant to touch.

Good luck.

Dielectric Grease? I was able to procure a 7/12 connector, and the 7 pin portion has a fair amount of grease in it already but the 12 pin portion is dry.
