Looking at the tracker statistics, it seems that regular cab 2021 orders are in the minority. I will put up a few pictures of my truck with hopes it will make any others feel less lonely. In a world flooded with crew cab trucks, I had to order mine after a long and fruitless search for 2020’s and even 2019’s. The majority had options that made no sense, or dealer add-ons that I wouldn’t have wanted even if they were free, like tinted windows (most of my driving is at night) or bed liner (I do a lot of work with metal and it just gets stuck on or gouges the liners) and I wanted the V-8 4X4 with 3.73 gears and 9.75 axle. The heavy duty payload package was hard to pass up, so I went with the 8’ bed and it still fits in my small driveway without any effort. It doesn’t look quite as long in person and in fact, I panicked for a moment thinking it was a short bed when I saw it from behind parked in the dealer’s back lot.

Unfortunately, Ford decided that several options aren’t available with the regular cab. I really wanted the LED headlights, 4A transfer case and sliding rear window. I would like to at least get the sliding window, then hopefully some information about adding the OEM LEDs will appear and maybe some day, after the warranty expires, I will feel adventurous enough to swap out transfer cases.

Unloaded, the ride is stiff, though comfortable and on the highway it rides super smooth and quiet. The steering is almost too light and doesn’t have much feedback at low speed. The brakes feel good with a nice stiff pedal. I haven’t gotten any opportunity to use four wheel drive but hopefully will next week.

Just picked up and brought home my SuperCab 8’ 4x4
Too nippy outside to really explore it or set a few things up, and I’m in South Texas! Maybe I’ll go out after a while.
I have not actually seen any 21s out in the wild yet, but I don’t venture out a lot.
I‘m sure I’ll start seeing them soon. But Regular cab will probably all be white with some company logo on them.

I was spending a lot of time looking for used trucks, there are a lot of newer work trucks with high miles, rough exteriors and trashed interiors. The privately owned ones are usually in good shape with lower miles, however, the owners think scarcity is a reason to ask double what some used crew cabs are going for. It’s so crazy hard finding a used regular cab truck, I gave up last time around in 2013 and bought a 2006 Silverado crew cab because I needed a truck.

You can order a short bed with the 6.5’ box, I was torn between a shortbed XL regular cab with manual wind up windows and the V8 with 4X4, locking 3.73 rear as the only options. Or the truck that I eventually ordered, a mid XLT, the HDPP and 36 gallon tank is what pushed me over to that side. The new truck is nearly the same exact length as my old one and the parking sensors/360° view will help when parking in big cities.

When I spent an entire afternoon doing test drives at the local dealer, they had a 2020 regular cab shortbed with the 2.7 Ecoboost, I might have gotten that one, except it wasn’t 4X4.

My regular cab, 6.5 bed, XLT 301a will be here by the end of the month. Antimatter blue. Kids are grown and wife and I wanted something that will fit easily in the garage and is easy to drive and park. We will use it to pull our 22ft travel trailer.

I’ll post pictures once it gets here.

Thanks! The door gap isn’t as noticeable when you are at least twenty feet away and choose the right angles.

For those that don’t know what I’m talking about:

Still not remedied almost a month after purchase, hopefully, I will have an update soon with a happy outcome. It was the first and only thing that I noticed when taking delivery of the truck. The dealership promised to fix it and it’s in the sales contract, but at this point they haven’t made any real effort to make it right. They even made the claim that Ford made the door the wrong shape, that Ford knows that there’s a problem and that they couldn’t realign the door on another truck that came in.

I may need to start a thread devoted to the issue but still need to do a bit of homework.

Excellent! Length was the primary reason I needed a regular cab. I wanted the 6.5’ bed but couldn’t say no to the 36 gallon tank and Payload Package that the 8’ bed was offered with.

I ordered mine on Feb 9. The blend date was Mar 14. Final production date was Mar 17 and it was dispatched to shiping the next day, Mar 18. It must have gotten on a truck right away because it was delivered to my dealer around 8:30 pm on Mar 19.

Should be picking it up tomorrow.
