Another MY21/MY22 difference?

My Platinum MY21 friend drove my Platinum MY22. He swore my steering wheel was different. It was thicker. He measured both wheels at 12:00 and sure enough they are different. His MY21 measured 102 mm and my MY22 measured 112 mm. It is noticeable once he pointed this out. Has this been realized by anyone else? My friend now dislikes his MY21 steering wheel enough he's looking for MY22 wheel. Is this a difference the MY22 has over the MY21? And yes, he measured both the same way, in-between the finger bumps.

I might be the same reason the ladies likes it thicker/longer.
It must feel more satisfying in his hands when he grips the thicker one.
