Hey all - theres been lots of threads on this and a few people have swapped it but the information seems pretty scattered and divided based on the strategies each person used. I'm considering doing this swap but I have the following questions and preferences. Wondering if anyone has done it this specific way and can share some start to finish insight:

1. I want full functionality, as if I had a 502a Lariat (I have a 501a). I have Forscan and have already done the heated steering wheel swap (with help).

2. I don't want to have to do any custom electrical work, so I don't want to build my own harness or have to do wiring

3. I have no issue buying the HCM, but it sounded like maybe this wouldn't work as it would come blank and theres something specific about it that Forscan wouldn't be able to address? Info from another thread

4. Has anyone gotten the Precision Retrofits harness, plus the OEM lights, plus an HCM and gotten it all to work without any extra effort/steps/customization?

Appreciate it!

What's your timeframe on doing the headlight swap?
I may have a complete Plug & Play harness with a programed HCM available in a month or less if I get motivated enough.

I did strongly consider them because I agree they look great. I just want to stick with an OEM look (I know, I know)

You will need the conversion harness, the HCM, the headlamps AND you’ll need ride height sensors for auto leveling
2. I don't want to have to do any custom electrical work, so I don't want to build my own harness or have to do wiring
There’s a couple members on here and on another forum that can build custom wire harnesses. I bought conversion harness from precision retrofits, but they literally just resell the harnesses from ryan Broderick, so I went straight through him for my headlamp to BCM to HCM harness and HCM. It was quite a bit less expensive going direct through him.
3. I have no issue buying the HCM, but it sounded like maybe this wouldn't work as it would come blank and theres something specific about it that Forscan wouldn't be able to address? Info from another thread
Don’t buy a new HCM unless you know how to program it. Just buy one with the harnesses.

PR’s kit should be all plug and play, but again, just go through Ryan Broderick for all the wiring, or @JScaro. I don’t know him really well but we’ve chatted a few times and the dude SEEMS to have his shit together. I can’t personally vouch for him, but I would have no problem doing business with him from what I do know.

As far as the headlamps go, if you want chrome headlamps, PR is probably the best route to go unless you don’t mind digging through tons of eBay sellers. I’m not sure if PR does the BAP/Tremor headlamps though. I got the BAP headlamps on eBay for $1200 and they seem to be more or less brand new

Honestly if I didn’t already have the money invested in the headlamps when the DD lamps were revealed I may have jumped on those. I like that they don’t look like some gaudy ass aftermarket headlamps. I have about the same amount of money invested in my setup as the DD high series headlamps, ~$2k

Appreciate it as always dolsen! I went ahead and ordered the PR headlights (chrome, no harness). I'm sure I'll work something out with jscaro for the HCM and harness. As far as the leveling sensors, have you or anyone else installed them? Got part numbers or tips on the install?

Jesse is the only one that I know of that has installed them. I have been purchasing all the parts, I have everything I need except the wire terminals. Once I get those I can build the harness and get it all installed.

I do have the part numbers for the 22. It is different part numbers for the 21 (I haven’t checked the 23) so I have no idea if they’re different or not. What year is yours?

I will say, depending on what you want it the juice may not be worth the squeeze. I’m one of those “has more dollars than sense” kind of guys when it comes to cars lol

EDIT: just saw that you have a 22. @Jmeo also had a 22 501a PB and had the rear ride height sensor for some reason. Check and see if you have either one on the left side. Only the left side is required for auto level

Just looked, nothing on the side of the upper control arms as pictured by @Snakebitten. I can live without the auto leveling. If I can get glare free working post install, that is sufficient I hope to avoid blinding oncoming traffic :p
