Aftermarket Speaker Choices

For those who have, or are looking to upgrade the factory speakers without adding an amp, are Kicker KS, Infinity Reference or another option the best choice?

O don't go down that rabbit hole. I'm a big Infinity Kappa fan, so given those choices I'd do the Infinity's. You really need to consider an amp though as even with the 3 ohm Infinity's you won't see much difference, clarity maybe, but no volume increase.

OP - I am in the same boat as you for needing an improvement in the ford audio.. my '18 SLT has Bose and it was worlds better than b&o.. so far I believe it is due to the b&o has the base speakers and ultra b&o has the better - like the front doors having 2 ways instead of the base.. I did JBLs. they are not here yet.. but I am crossing my fingers they are better. I did remove the center speaker... what an improvement. I am posting a pic of it.. this spur you on to changing out the rest of them. there is no describing how sorry a speaker it is.. no wonder the sound is so substandard. Can you say "Philco?"

If I were to add an amp, it would be a compact unit that I could mount in the dash (ex. Key 200.4). I'm unsure if a 50Wx4 amp would make enough of a difference to justify the Kappa series over the Reference series, but I agree that the Kappa's are excellent speakers.

It can be done. However, it is neither easy or inexpensive.

Nice setup! Did you like these model 6x9's? I'm trying to choose between these or the powerbass ford OE ones. I know people will say im an idiot for trying to choose between kicker and powerbass, but i had alot of powerbass stuff growing up and had great luck with it. Kind of nostalgic. Just looking for some input on this particular model of kicker. Would you use the crossover for these if using a kicker key amp?

No, it was bi-amped, so the KEY did it all. Imaging was amazing!
