OK guys I had ordered factory skids but they got missed. I am not upset after seeing the fuel tank one is just a piece of plastic and not of much real use. Due to the mix-up my dealer is giving me a credit towards them buying aftermarket skids and installing them...I definitely have a good dealer.
My question is has anyone purchased after market skids, who was the manufacturer and would you recommend them or not...would welcome responses for those that are liked and ones to stay away from.

Thanks

Unfortunately, I see you didn't get any replies. Did you purchase skid plates, and if so, what is your opinion of what you purchased.

I ended up with the full RCI aluminum kit. I like it just fine, the fuel tank only uses the Ford FX4 tank mounts as support so that wouldn't work for rockcrawling (the skid is good the mounts would have to be redesigned) type abuse but the rest (intercooler to T-case)mount very solid. FAR FAR FAR superior to what Ford calls a skidplate for the FX4...those are an absolute joke.

Sorry to revive an old thread:

Are the RCI skid plates still holding up well? Can you explain the gas tank mounts more? I see on the RCI website they sell gas tank straps to fit their skid plate.

The skids are fine, but this is NOT an off-road truck. My off-rad truck has steel skids. I got them because I may need them when moving a camper into place or just driving dirt roads because the truck is low, wide, long and many components aren't designed to withstand impacts like old iron was..

The fuel tank skid mounting straps RCI sells are a Ford part # used to mount the FX4 skids (maybe the Tremor too). Non factory skid equipped vehicles will need these straps as the straps have studs to mount the skid to where the regular straps do not.
