Hi Matt

Check the part number on the module by the brake pedal. If it's RL3T-19J295-BB you're all set, just need to adjust a few things with Forscan. If not, order a RL3Z-19H332-A which will contain that part. You'll also need the switch, order a ML3Z-14529-AC - the box will contain a ML3T-043D62-AE3JA6.

Ford uses different part numbers for replacement parts - If you order those two parts, make the Forscan changes, you'll be all set. I used Varsity Ford's online ordering, it was cheaper than walking up to a dealer parts counter.

If I recall the semantics correctly, the trailer package is different from the towing package - the latter only gives you a class IV hitch and trailer lights. The trailer package adds trailer brakes. If the switch isn't there, I;m pretty confident you'll need to change the module and add the switch.

Understandable. I went to the dealer and they stated I have the heavy duty towing package. But they seemed confused when I asked if the parts are the “kit” (the module and the switch). They wanted $300 for parts and $300 for labor!!!

I can at least get the parts for $285 plus 25% off due to the cyber Monday sale, and pre-pay for labor at $182 directly through Ford’s website.

I’m going to see if I have the module, and if I do. I may just order the switch myself and then buy the stuff to use FORscan. I just don’t know where to start with that.

Dropping in to say thank you for the info. I have a 2024 PowerBoost that has the -FB module, so I am ordering both parts. I will see if I can find a mechanic to use the info on this thread to reprogram the computer. I don't have a Windows computer or ForScan, and the dealer wants $700!!!!

I can’t believe the power boost doesn’t have the trailer brake controller! They are basically marketing that truck to people who pull campers!

That's the right module :) Yes, read up on ForScan, it's pretty easy to use, but make sure you back things up, etc.

Thanks again! I have the switch en route. Hell, it could even be plug and play. Like someone took it out for another truck. I’ll keep the forum posted.

I bought the OBDII harness off Amazon for FORScan. Now I just need a cheap laptop!

Apologies: I didn't read carefully enough, you have ML3T-19J295-BB, you need RL3T... but by all means, give it a try.

Yes, 2024 is different, but your module may work. I'd certainly give it a shot.

My situation is different than most. But hopefully it can be helpful to someone in a similar scenario. Looks like my truck was supposed to have the TBC switch.

I threw the new one in the spot where the coin holder was and ran out to the farm to connect my wife’s horse trailer. Sliding the manual switch increased the gain, pushing the brake pedal increased the gain as well. I heard the brakes making noise at the trailer wheels as well.

So…it seems the TBC switch was removed and used on another truck in its short life time. Or, maybe there was a shortage and it was never installed? But, I’m happy to say that’s all it was. The Trailer Brake Module part number I listed earlier was in fact a working module. Just the first letter (the date code) was different. Thanks for all of the help!

Need some help please. I ordered the module to replace my module that ends in -FB (RL3T-19J295-FB). I ordered RL3Z-19H332-A. The box contained the module, but it ends in -BD not -BB. Will this control my trailer brakes as well as the lights? I'm guessing the B means yes, but not sure of the significance of the final letter.

Thanks in advance. I found a dealer that will update the code for $179! They apparently have done more than a few.

Hopefully this will help anyone who is confused as I was about the required TRM change in forscan.
I just Installed a TBC in my new 2024 f150 XLT, following should work on 2025 also.
part number RL3Z-19H332-AA, includes dash module and new TRM. Ford install guide can be found here.
1)*BE SURE TO BACKUP ORIGINAL TRM WITH FORSCAN BEFORE SWAPPING, THIS WILL BE NEEDED TO ACTIVATE NEW TRM.
2) Was able to remove coin holder by grabbing firmly with both thumbs down in coin holes and pulling up and down till it wiggles out. wire for switch is mounted to back of coin holder, plug in and push switch module into dash.
3)find TRM under dash and replace with new one. only 2 bolts and 2 plugs, push unit up to release plastic grommet holding in-place once bolts are removed..

Once new TRM and Dash switch are installed you can activate them in Forscan.
TRM change is manual but easy if you understand the spreadsheet.
4)load backup you took in step 1 for the new TRM
5)go down to Address 791-01-02 and make note of what the 6th character is. In my case it was a 6
in the chart 6 = BQC NOT_CONSIDERED • PSCMEC ENABLE • SYNCEC PRESENT • TBMC NOT_PRESENT
We want the same setting but with TBMC NOT_PRESENT changed to TBMC PRESENT
in the chart 7 = BQC NOT_CONSIDERED • PSCMEC ENABLE • SYNCEC PRESENT • TBMC PRESENT
So in my case I change the 6th digit from 6 to 7
you will want to chose the 6th digit based on the TRM backup you created in step 1.

Once digit is changed you can write the new TRM with the updated configuration. It will throw a error, just proceed and it will correct it on its own.
6) go into the IPC easy mode and search for trailer brake, there are 3 that need enabled. trailer break control module, trailer break controller gain setting and trailer break module.
