Adding mid range speaker to dash without B&O unleashed

Not sure if anyone has tried this but on the dashboard of trucks without the 18 speakers unleashed package, are the corners still setup to accept 3.5" mid range speakers and then just replace the defroster grille with the 18 speakers grille? $150 seems like a fraction of the $1500 3 way pillar setup although I understand the speaker position will make a difference. Goal is to get some like the Focal 3 way Access setup up front on a budget since amps, dsp, and zen box or other interface harness will add up.

Currently have: ML3Z-15044E82-AA
Replace with: ML3Z-15044E82-BB
