No, that's not the right one. I believe a 2021 XLT would use Part #: SW8522 (13D730) but call your local dealership's parts department to verify this. Here's a 2021 XLT FX4 VIN you can give them so that they pull the right part: 1FTEW1EP6MKD22782

Edit: I'm also not sure if the part # is dependent on whether you have the 8"/12" Sync screen.
Again, very helpful - thanks for the quick response. As I don't yet have any trim removal tools, any in particular that you would recommend?

I was able to do it all with the tool shown below and you can get a set of them cheap on Amazon.

Thank you so much for this discovery. My HDC control switch will be delivered today and I am trying to find a time to take apart my dash. Any input on how long it took you to complete this upgrade? Thank you.

Wondering if anybody can help me out with FORscan. I found IPC 720-10-01 x*xx xxxx xx— and my digit in the * position is a 9, looking at the choices for this digit, I want B, but I can’t save this value, I get a Checksum failure. “B” = DIICM enabled • TSRNCAPA disabled • HDCCF enabled • TJA enabled. Any suggestions? I have the button installed, but can’t enable it. 3.5 EcoBoost, Lariat 502A. Thanks.

Ignore the checksum error warning and continue with the write - FORScan will automatically correct the checksum so the warning message it gives is redundant.

Thank you for all the help, job complete and it works, well at least it looks like it works in my garage. Here are a couple of notes. It took about 2 hours the first time I took the dash apart and installed everything. It only took an hour the second time (more on this later). I have a Lariat with 502A package and the trim removal was slightly different. The trim pieces pointed to in the photos below need to be removed. The one surrounding the touchscreen needs to be removed before the the long horizontal bar that goes from the Push to Start button to above the glove box. Lastly, I misunderstood the third image as being the front of the plug, not the receptical, so I placed my jumper wire in the wrong slot. You are looking at the receptical opening or the back of the plug. And finally, I had some errors with the FORscan entries. I was unable to save the IPC 720-10-01 entry no matter what I tried. This is because I had already changed the ABS 760-03-01 and ABS 760-04-01 entries. Once I returned the ABS entries to stock values, I changed the IPC value, then the ABS values. Everything worked.

If you already have the correct wire there then you should also have it in the top connector for the switch so if that's the case then just plug the top connector into the switch and make the ABS change and test it. My non-FX4 Platinum didn't have the HDC wire at all from the switch to the inline connector.

I figured out how to enable HDC (Hill Descent Control) & Rock Crawl driving mode to a non-FX4 4WD. This mod requires the following:

1. The HDC button - in my case it's the split button for HDC & Traction Control p/n: SW8524 / ML3Z-13D730-RA (Note this matches the trim in my Platinum and the p/n for an XLT would be different)

2. Terminals for HDC connector C2304 - pin 4 (female) and inline connector C214 - pin 12 (female) located behind the A/C controls. The Ford part #'s for these terminals are WT1001 & WT1002. These two terminals can be spliced/soldered together and end up being a good length to reach from C2304 to C214.

3. The following FORScan programming (ignore whatever you have where the x's are -
see my spreadsheets here)
IPC 720-10-01 x*xx xxxx xx-- enable HDC Control Function (HDCCF) if your default value is "A" then change to "B"
ABS 760-03-01 *xxx -- - enable HDC if your default value is "4" then change to "6", if your default is "D" then change to "F"
ABS 760-04-01 xxxx xx8x xx-- enables Rock Crawl drive mode

4. Lots of patience removing a lot of trim pieces to access everything. Note: your existing Traction Control Switch is held in place by the protruding prongs on the sides of the switch (see 3rd pic below) and they must be squeezed to push the switch forward out of the trim cutout.

Edit: added the trim removal directions and modified the order of the pdf instructions and removed unnecessary steps.

Edit: My original post stated a male terminal for C214 but I have become aware that it should've been female so the post has been updated to reflect that.
Is there a way to add Trail Control? Do you need to add A button? I do have HDC.
I see the setting in Forscan, but not sure if it requires hardware.

I just completed this install on my 2022. I needed a test build from forscan to get access to ABS. Otherwise in a future public release of version 2.3.47 you will be able to do this.

Would you happen to have part numbers for the switch assembly for an XLT high? And was the jump wire needed on yours?

One thing I’d like add I helped @Hackintoshihope do this in his truck. Unless I’m dumb, the connector that goes to the switch, in order to put the terminal/wire in it was a pull to seat connector. I was not able to get this to go in through the rear of the connector. I tried 2 terminals and bent both. We pushed the wire through the front and pulled from the rear it seated as it should have !

Anyone do this on a XLT 302A with 8 inch cluster and know the part #?

I have the 12 inch display. XLT High trim. I got the switch with the chrome strip. I got the same switch that is listed on the thread. 21 and 22MY are the same with those.

Do you need the electronic locking differential to properly add and use Rock/Crawl mode? It seems the mode uses that.
