Sent my dealer an email regarding the RL3Z-19H332-AA retrofit kit. They quoted 377.99 for the kit and 232.50 for install (CAD prices). Seems in line with USD prices based on current conversion rates. Glad I have some Fordpass points saved up lol. I’d do the install myself but I don’t have access/knowledge of FDRS to do the programming myself.

I was able to successfully install the retrofit kit mentioned above (RL3Z-19H332-AA) in my newly purchased 2024 XLT Powerboost, which apparently has everything from the tow package already aside from the TBC. I ordered the parts from Fairway Ford and then I used the same method as this post: https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/thr...roller-to-2024-f-150-lariat.27174/post-514251:
1. Installed the kit which included the module and the controller itself
2. Found a same-spec truck online that had the Tow Package and used that VIN to download its asbuilt file from the Motorcraft website
3. Used FORScan to overwrite my truck's TRM module asbuilt with the downloaded configs
4. Enabled the three trailer brake settings in the IPC module

I haven't had a chance to actually tow anything yet, but I don't have any error codes and using the controller results in the messages stated in their instructions (https://www.fordservicecontent.deal...les/ML3J_19H332_AB_F150_TrailerBrake_Ctrl.pdf). Another thread mentioned also enabling the Trailer Brake setting in the BCM and PCM, so I'll probably do that just in case, too.

Hopefully this will help anyone who is confused as I was about the required TRM change in forscan.
I just Installed a TBC in my new 2024 f150 XLT, following should work on 2025 also.
part number RL3Z-19H332-AA, includes dash module and new TRM. Ford install guide can be found here.
1)*BE SURE TO BACKUP ORIGINAL TRM WITH FORSCAN BEFORE SWAPPING, THIS WILL BE NEEDED TO ACTIVATE NEW TRM.
2) Was able to remove coin holder by grabbing firmly with both thumbs down in coin holes and pulling up and down till it wiggles out. wire for switch is mounted to back of coin holder, plug in and push switch module into dash.
3)find TRM under dash and replace with new one. only 2 bolts and 2 plugs, push unit up to release plastic grommet holding in-place once bolts are removed..

Once new TRM and Dash switch are installed you can activate them in Forscan.
TRM change is manual but easy if you understand the spreadsheet.
4)load backup you took in step 1 for the new TRM
5)go down to Address 791-01-02 and make note of what the 6th character is. In my case it was a 6
in the chart 6 = BQC NOT_CONSIDERED • PSCMEC ENABLE • SYNCEC PRESENT • TBMC NOT_PRESENT
We want the same setting but with TBMC NOT_PRESENT changed to TBMC PRESENT
in the chart 7 = BQC NOT_CONSIDERED • PSCMEC ENABLE • SYNCEC PRESENT • TBMC PRESENT
So in my case I change the 6th digit from 6 to 7
you will want to chose the 6th digit based on the TRM backup you created in step 1.

Once digit is changed you can write the new TRM with the updated configuration. It will throw a error, just proceed and it will correct it on its own.
6) go into the IPC easy mode and search for trailer brake, there are 3 that need enabled. trailer break control module, trailer break controller gain setting and trailer break module.

Great write up, but for some reason I don't have IPC or TRM modules listed in Forscan on my 24. I'm running the latest version of Forscan but no luck, any ideas?

Is that testing with trailer hooked up and does it work? I haven’t had a chance to test with trailer brakes yet.
I hooked up to my trailer and everything seemed to work, I didn't actually tow yet though.

A couple of quick notes. I purchased the Motorcraft RL3Z-19H332-AA from Fairway Ford via Ebay (my local dealer said it was on backorder) and confirmed fitment with them by supplying my VIN for my December-build 2024.

Local dealer quoted $183 to install/program. At pickup, the invoice was $274 and they couldn't explain the increase, and they never called to express extra work was required/get approval, so they changed it back to $183. The installation looks good and all functions appear to work correctly, though I won't tow for another week or so.

I'm wondering if something is wrong or is just fine and I don't need to worry. I wrote all the other values successfully, but when I go to write values to the TRM, I have letters instead of numbers. The trailer brake controller seems to work anyway. It shows gain adjustments and 'no trailer' when I squeeze the brake lever. Do I need to worry? Thanks!

All those F's would make me want to reload the asbuilt backup.
These values represented by digits (0-9) and letters (A-F) are hex (base 16) numbering system used by computers like the ones in our trucks. We set the values using Forscan so the truck knows what is on/off and what values for making switches work. Base 16 numbers count like this: 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,A,B,C,D,E,F.
So for example, adding one (as in 1+1=2) to a 9 in base 16 is like this 9+1=A. Computers don't think a ten is a 10 like our common base 10 system but is represneted with an A in base 16. Only one character is allowed to represent values from 1-16.
Thje Forscan charts indicate each digit's place and what values to make the digit in the place value's spot. Changing zeroes to ones or ones to zeroes is common to simply turn on or off a feature. The blocks of four characters, then, that we see in the Forscan blocks can each represent 16*16*16*16 = 65,536 possibilities per every 4 charcaters. It seems Ford uses a lot of these blocks to set values for a lot of different stuff to control.
So, all the F's would be an indication of a massive error, stuff might not work as intended. In early programming days, all F's or all zeroes meant something wiped out all the usable data and we'd get those old blue screens from Windows full of F's and/or zeroes.
IMO, make sure your Forscan is correct, licensed, and updated. Make sure you're using a good cable. I recommend you reload the as built data and start anew. It is you decision, though, as always.

RL3Z-19H332-AA24+ F-150 OEM Ford Parts In-Dash Trailer Brake Control Module
1.) Pulled out the coin holder using a plastic trim tool prybar. It came out in two pieces.
2.) Loaded Forscan , programmed the as-built TRM module 791-01-02 and added one to the 6th character. Mine was a 6, I made it a 7. Thank you @haddad1 in post #18.
3.) Loaded the IPC module (non as-built) and clicked each Trailer Brake item. 3 of them, again thanks haddad1, and changed them from disabled to enabled.

Make sure to do the power off/on cycles as any other Forscan changes. I only powered off/on after the TRM. I did all three IPC in one "Write".

Repowering my truck, I pushed the plus sign and the display showed the same stuff as REDRAGN post 321 above. Thanks REDRAGN.

I have an extra module for under the dash if anyone wants it. DC9BD FoMo is stamped on the one that was already in my truck and also the one that came in the kit. All I really needed was the slider controller for the dash to replace the wire harness holder (aka coin holder).

UPDATE 5/1/25: It didn't work. The trailer lights work, but no trailer brake. The display shows the gain value but indicates "no trailer" still. The 7-pin connections are good but I'll clean them perfectly. The brake controller is in the 7 o'clock position when looking at the trailer 7-pin plug. All the settings in Forscan all saved OK. Also, I will switch the under dash module and install the one that came with the switch controller. After that, if it doesn't work who knows?

UPDATE 5/6/25: I did step#3 from haddad1 post #18. I swapped the DC9BD module under the dash with the new one. When I plugged the new one in, there were clicks and noise from the engine compartment. I hooked the trailer up and pushing the + or - button or squeezing the slider indicated a change in the value as well as the white bar moving across, the display no longer indicates no trailer when I adjust the controller. All set! Thanks for the help.

Thanks Regragn, Your pic indicates a gain of 6 with the white bar below it on the guages. Mine shows the number value but the white bar never slides right , it shows zero always. Going out to swap the modules now...
