Over the past couple of years, my go-to pressure gauges have failed. The digital one was apparently misassembled at the factory, and broke on disassembly to replace the battery because the battery had been inexplicably soldered to something. The slider on the old fashioned one simply shot off as a projectile!

I bought a couple of cheapies at harbor freight on Sunday, and tried one today. Getting to tire #8, it wasn't making a seal. Lifting it up, it had already dropped its pin!

Any suggestions bot for a good one for the tool kit, and relatively inexpensive ones for each vehicle?

I have a couple like this; one for in the truck and one for the toolbox. Easy to read with single PSI increments and have a tab to lock on to the valve stem. Release valve on top makes it easy to take air out to fine tune tire pressure or if you overfill slightly. I don’t care for digital gauges as I’ve found them to be inaccurate and have short lifespans.

Another vote for Jaco.
If you want to church it up a bit and check two or four tires at the same time, along with airing up or down simultaneously, you could check out the Morrflate system. It’s not cheap, but they run sales periodically.

I keep the bag hung on a hook in the back of my bed and air down anytime I head to the river since the national forest service roads here in the Ozarks have plenty of washboard sections that I can’t even feel if I’m down around 25 psi. Their digital gauge is very accurate and even after three years of use, still works great.
