That’s just a mark up because of production problems and shortages.
I would hope no one is foolish enough to pay a markup like this on a regular production pickup, but that dealer has successfully reframed the negotiations for the purchase of that truck so now someone will feel victorious if they negotiate it down to MSRP.
Always happens when the demand is higher than the supply. Saw it with the Hellcat; Mustang R; New Corvette; Ford F150 highend etc. Won't last long when they start rolling in in numbers.
I got X plan pricing because my salesman said yes and because he is on volume sales for his bonus, moving this truck before New Years only helps him. Also, the dealer is 1 block away from my hospital. So when he got pushback, he reminded them that it could look bad on them to cancel the deal for greed of money, as I’m a healthcare worker on the front.
It was the same story with the Kia telluride, people just refused to buy them though. The high end cars though, they won’t budge on markup. They sold a Gt500 for 131,000 a week ago.
