Here's the answer directly from the Ford eSource F150 Specs Book. You can kinda get an idea of what trucks come with what and how to tell what axle you should have. From what know The differences between the 9.75 and 9.75HD are the wall thickness, axle spline count, and fluid capacity is slightly more on the HD. From my understanding the HD is only available with the HDPP and 4800lb Rear GAWR. Here's what is in the guide.

Can anyone confirm they have the 9.75HD axle (the 9.75c version) with the 5.0 engine, its only listed with the 4800lb GAWR. I have seen 9.75b sticker on a 5.0 w/3.73's (non Max Tow) and a 9.75c sticker on a PB w/3.73's (also non Max Tow). Can anyone confirm (pics would be great) of a 9.75c sticker on a 5.0 with Max Tow. Not sure why a PB non Max Tow w/3.73's got the 9.75c version as the GAWR of that vehicle is 7050. Totally confused.

The reason is I would prefer to order an XL but will get an XLT (with lots of stuff I don't want) if its the only way to get the upgraded 9.75c axle. I assume that is the one with the 35 splines even though I cannot find any definitive documentation that the 9.75b is 34 and 9.75c is 35. If anyone has that in writing I would love to see it.

Thanks

The reason the (one of) PB gets the HD axle standard is because of the extra weight of the truck (batteries) plus the extra torque from the hybrid

I misspoke, sorry. The 9.75c was on a 3.5 NON-Hybrid, no batteries. That is what really confused me. The 9.75b was on the 5.0 w/3.73's and the 9.75c was on the 3.5 turbo w/3.73's and both were NOT max tow and had the same GAWR (7050). The PowerBoost model also had the 9.75C axle but that is a different matter. I have pictures of all these i can share if anyone wants to see.

So really looking for confirmation that the 9.75c is on a Max Tow 5.0.

Thanks

See pictures of both as mentioned. Neither max tow, both GAWR of 7050 and both 3.73's. Any insights to the difference appreciated.

Hmmm. I did not see those numbers on my axles sticker. My truck appears to be in the gray area though. Gross axle weight rear is 4150. More than the middle column but not the number quoted in the final column. I have 3.55 gears.

Hi Lateonthebrakes, the axle sticker I posted is under the vehicle on the rear axle shaft. Probably not applicable to you though as I am looking for info regarding the 5.0 and 3.73's with and without max tow. Thanks

Oh. I had taken a picture of that sticker before but did not see the 9.75C until just now. And yes, I have the 3/5 with max towing.

Where would I find the spline count on the HD axle? Essentially I would like to put a Eaton Truetrac instead of the locking diff. The only truetrac I see listed is for a 34 spline axle.
