$64,000 Question - What Is This?

Alright! Alright! Alright! Sports fans!! Time for the first round of guess the mystery part that came off my truck!!

A week or so ago, I was washing my microfiber wash rags that I use on the truck. As I was putting them away after they dried, I noticed a small, silver little tid-bit of something. I had no clue what it was and didn’t think too much of it. Figured it came off of another clothing item, or out of a pocket, or something.

Today I finished washing my truck and was detailing the plastic trim piece at the base of the windshield where it meets with the hood and connects with the engine bay. I had the windshield wiper arms up/extended. I don’t recall bumping into anything too hard, or knocking something loose. As I continued, I heard something land on the plastic. When I looked to see what it was, it was another small piece identical to the one I had previously found in the laundry.

It appears to be silver in color, and consists of some sort of metal/metallic property. They both are very small in size, no larger than an eraser head. They have groves and edges on them as if they were designed to be a piece of something.

I’m assuming it’s some piece of the truck, but still not even 100% certain about that.

I would like to consult the council of F150Gen14 Owners for advice and insight as to what these pieces may be. Thank you all kindly for any help you can provide me!

Just a wild guess based off the pictures, did they come out of the passenger side wiper arm. Looking at the picture of the drivers side are near where it attached on the inside looks like two silver parts.

Can you enlighten me as to what a keyway is? Any idea why a shim would be on this part of the truck?

For you gents saying it’s a wiper shim; what does it do? Is it going to affect whether my wipers will work or not? Will it hurt anything to run the wipers without these little pieces?

Looks like it very well could be that silver piece. In your photo, it looks a bit too big, though. I’ll have to check it over the next time I’m able to get to my truck.

I'm guessing they are there to help keep the arm snug.

If that is the case, I'll take the $64, 000 in a mixture of small and large bills. If transferring please transfer in $9,999.00 increments to keep the Feds from putting their nose in my business.

I’m guessing that the wiper pivot has a keyway and this little guy is for rapid locating on the production line.
without that, it would be pretty easy to get the arm on the pivot incorrectly.
