Again no one has yet to point out the difference in the combination of the tow tech package, 17T and the hitch, 53B vs the regular tow package. The literature provided that states 7k lbs. names the packages differently, ie medium, heavy duty, etc. not by their option names. Confusing as all hell and still no specifics on exactly what it is that is setting these limits.
Medium is no towing package but with the class IV hitch.

heavy duty is trailer tow package

max duty is max trailer tow.

no, we probably don’t know all of the differences but we do have documentation that there are some differences and they are different build codes and the legal tow ratings are as stated. 7k or less unless it has trailer tow. Then the published numbers for trailer tow and max tow.

7,000. Unless it’s a 2.7l then it’s less.

That's the problem - the documentation does not call out 17T which combined with 53b = what's included in the trailer tow package per the '21 grid that has a column for all the tow packages. If you look at the literature it almost seems as if 17T was an afterthought for '21 / late to the party. Still looking for the documentation that states otherwise. Also no one can point to what's different - first it was sway bars and that turned out to be for the 2020 trucks. Has to be something though if Ford is going to charge more for the towing package on their build and price site on top of the other options. Otherwise someone at Ford needs to justify how they are charging an extra $1k for equipment that already exists on the higher trimmed trucks with 17T.

On the build and price site this is what's included in the tow package when building a 701a. The only things that seem to indicate a difference is the Tailgate LED light included on Lariat and above and the wiring harness and 7 to 4 pin adapter which was included with my truck:

we haven’t any word from Ford on this, but it does specifically state in the documentation and in the actual build sheets that 17T + 53B does not get a rating over 7,000lbs. I wish we knew exactly why. On some trucks, the radiators are different (according to the documents). We cannot assume 17T and 53B are capable of more than 7,000 and you would be liable in accidents if towing more than that. I hope to find out otherwise, for everyone’s sake, but we have no word.

If you have the documentation / build sheets please share the specific examples that point out that the combination of the two is restricted to 7k.

Ah, I see this thread had exactly what I was still trying to figure out in a couple other threads. Just what additional hard parts (read: not fancy software or LED Lights) come on 53A over 53B (Talking NON Max-Tow Trucks). Then, if some, what are they and why aren't the spelled out somewhere by Ford. For instance, if checking 53A gets you slightly higher capacity springs (my 53B Truck only has the 3800#), why isn't in clear in the tow guide?

After reviewing more trucks, and some images of trucks with Max Tow, Trailer Tow, Just Class IV and some with Tow Tech. Tow Tech with Class IV as well as Trailer Tow (53A) have the same -BH Suffix 3800# Springs I have (ML34-5560-BH)!!!! So, 10,400 it is!!!
