I have a 145" crew cab 4x4, did all the same stuff with the exact same suspension, removed the 1.25" rear blocks and raised the front to pretty much dead nutz level. However I did not chage my bump stops, so your saying this is the part number for the bump stops ML3Z-4730-A, and more importantly is it truly needed or can I get away with the 4x4 bump stops?
Truly needed….. depends. Drive like it is now. If you don’t find yourself bottoming on the bump then don’t replace and save a few bucks. If you only hit once in a great while it still might not be worth the time and money to replace.

Those are the bump stops I ordered and used. They have two very small and then tabs sticking up to go into locating hole to keep them from rotating.

They did not both go into the holes so I had to tap one down with a hammer. Easy mod and IMO one locating tab along with the 1/2” head bolt is enough to keep them on and in place forever.

Just order them and the two bolts for a total of $52 Shipping was ridiculous, parts were pretty cheap from FORDPARTSPROS.com

Finally got around to taking my rear blocks out today. Shout out to Thumper150 for the help. Still about 2 inches of rake, but I like it. Maybe get some better lit pics tomorrow, it was getting dark when I got done.

Maybe this is a stupid question. So excuse my ignorance. Why remove the rear blocks and then lift the front? That would make it level?? I guess I’m just curious bc I’m in the process of raising the front of my PB SCREW with the 6112’s and I don’t want much rake

I don’t want to raise the front a ton just more of a level look. I think the truck is plenty tall as is

I don't plan on raising mine for the foreseeable future.

From the factory mine had a four inch rake. IMHO raising the front (without dropping the diff) more than 2-2.5” is hard on the CV joints and ball joints. But that still would have left me with a 2” rake which was still too much for my taste. So I removed the rear block and I’m happy.

Hi Rich,
Thank you for the information you provided.
The part list with numbers is a big help for anyone doing this mod. Suggesting using 2wd rear shocks makes sense.

You’re welcome. Also, after some test fitting and measuring I have ordered 1/2” spacers and extended thread lug nuts. The spacers appear to stop all rubbing at full lock and the lug nuts catch more than enough threads on the lug bolts.

I couldn’t find this combination to make a truck level anywhere online, so thought I’d share.

Getting close to doing this, great write up.

Did you really need 2wd rear shocks? Is there any difference in valving or reaction of the 2wd vs 4wd shocks, or just the overall length?

Honestly I don’t know 100%. The 4x4 shocks looked like they would bottom out if I used the 2wd bump stops. If I had kept the 4x4 bump stops that would not have been an issue but I would have lost 1” of travel after removing the blocks.

I’m happy with my current set up.

I removed my blocks and put in 1-1/2 lowering shackle.
also replaced the bump stops with a 2 wd version.
Did this about two years ago—no shock changes, no shims.
I have a SuperCab with 8’ box (yep, that long thing)
Ride actually improved, and tailgate ended up at a perfect work height for me.
Front of the truck came up about 1/2, and I no longer feel I am going downhill all the time.
The rear of this thing is still taller than my 98 K1500 that is all stock.
The 98 is also easier to get in and out of — Lower floor height I guess.
i did order my truck (21) with step boards, so that helps with a easy entry and exit.

so, two years and no ill effects with drivability at all

2024 4x4 EXTCAB and I ditched the 1.25 inch blocks, and added FOX 2.0 shocks for the 4x4 and no issues after 9 months including drag racing daily for 6 days (SickWeek). Just a slight rake and I like it. Truck hooks good-

How was Sick Week?!? I want to do an event like that with my '65 Galaxie some day. Not sure if Power Tour has any life left in it with the changes at Motor Trend. But I digress...

I'll probably stick with the 4x4 rear shocks when I do this later this Spring. It's only a 1" drop with the block removed, and I can't imagine that would severely limit shock travel. These things are meant to be loaded down at times and compressed towards the ground, so I'm sure they can handle the 1" drop. I hope...
