I've been trying to find the EPA MPG figures by locating a 2WD Powerboost on line by doing a dealer search of their inventory. I've only been able to locate a few by searching inventory in major cities in the south. All the ones I've located have it stamped in red on the window sticker "EPA DATA NOT AVAILABLE. UNIT NOT BE OFFERED FOR SALE".

Does anyone know what's going on with the 2WD Powerboost?

I wondered the same thing. I went to the Ford website to build a Lariat with the PowerBoost and it wouldn't let me configure it as a 4x2, only 4x4 and I don't really want the 4x4.

It will let me build a King Ranch 4x2 but it says I have to add the tow package with the Powerboost. I’m wondering if there’s a problem with releasing the Powerboost.

That’s interesting Dan. I tried with the KR too, but it kept forcing me to the 4x4. I think that comments about going to the dealer’s website for the build might be the way to go. I think I might try that.

I would assume +0 to +1 for 4x2 like the ecoboosts and others. It is probably somewhere in the +0.5 to +1 but the whole number rounding makes it either 0 or 1

I’m sure that the EPA MPG will be at least 1 mpg or possibly 2 because it’s about 2 or 3 hundred pounds lighter and the it has 3.55 e-lock instead of 3.73 which the 4WD Powerboost has.

What I’m concerned with is that there’s a large red stamp in bold letters on the window sticker saying DO NOT SHIP OR SELL.

When I ordered mine at the dealer I know there were a lot of variables apart from the engine that prevented the usage of the power boost. I have a 4X2 ordered and it is in production.

Have you seen your window sticker yet and if so, what is the mpg?

I keep checking the “official” EPA website for any updates, and they haven’t posted rating for a 4x2 PowerBoost yet.

As no reviewer has yet to break 21 mpg on their Powerboost trucks, I am guessing the EPA of 24 combined is coming from the 4x2 in Eco mode. At 55 mph. Real world mpg is looking the same as the Ecoboost. It boils down to the question of how bad you need the torque, and the generator. All that said, it looks like most the reviewers I have seen on youtube are driving the trucks pretty hard, much like a 16 year old male. I watched one reviewer do 80ish in a 35 zone. Sustained. This type of driving isn't going to get you 700 miles per tank. Personally I think the Powerboost will be an excellent, if not the best daily driver for someone who commutes to work and needs a truck. Especially if your in the hill country or mountains. It will do everything you need. Although if I have to tow 9K or above I think a SD with the diesel is a better choice.

This became my conclusion. I have a 25 mile round trip commute at 35mph, around the state sales calls, tow a bass boat regularly, but want the ability to tow a travel trailer a few times a year (borrow or rent). I am consolidating from a newer Lincoln and 2011 XLT F150, and the 2021 PowerBoost Lariat checks ALL of the boxes.

There's also the question of emissions. Even if the gas mileage were the same as the EcoBoost, tailpipe CO2 emissions are way lower, and also lower than any other truck out there.

In this image, grey is upstream emissions and burgundy is tailpipe emissions. The F-150 PowerBoost even blows my Acura SUV out of the water!

Maybe I should become a "reviewer". I regularly get 23mpg on shorter trips and just yesterday got 24.5 on the highway doing 75-80mph. My best was over 29mpg in a 12-mile traffic jam on I-25 through Denver.
