We are the few, the proud, the 4x2 club. Feel free to show off photos and tell your story of why you purchased a 4x2. Doesn't matter if it's lowered or normal.

I'll go first, even though mines on order (So I don't have any photos yet). I've been driving since 1996 and have only owned 1 4x4 and 1 AWD. I had a 1984 GMC S-15 for 1 year in 1996 and a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee from 2005-2009 (my ex-wife drove it.) I do live in the south (Near Charlotte, NC) where it rarely snows. From 2004-2008 I had my 1998 4x2 in Minot, ND. When I was younger I wanted a 4x4, but never bought one. I'm now ordering a 4x2 because I've never needed the 4x4.

On a side note, you use to see a lot more 4x2 around here in the 80s and 90s. Now days everyone has a 4x4, I've known others that have never taken them off road. My dad currently has a 2014 4x2 F-150.

I'll update this post with some photos when the F-150 arrives.

Sounds like we have the same ride on order Randy, only mine is Gaurd. I have had a few 4x4s but just felt like I never used it enough to get it on my new one. It is supposed to get here first part of Oct.

My 4x2 with a couple mods for a little more aggressive stance, 2" front leveling kit and 1" rear lift block kit to give it a little bit of a 4wd look. Had a 2020 4x4 supercab and they offered me 7k more then I paid and way more options so I gave up the 4wd .

I too ordered a 4X2 for some of the same reasons as you. I live in Southern Oklahoma & would probably use 4 wheel drive for 1 or 2 days every 8 or 10 years! Not worth the extra cost although just about every truck on the lots here are 4X4's. Also the small decrease in gas mileage in 4x4's played a part in my decision. I ordered a Lariat 502A supercab which is almost non-existent around here. My truck is supposed to be here by 8/21 so we will see!

If I select all F-150s within 100 miles on the inventory search on Ford's website:

100+ Lariats within 100 miles
8 500A
1 with 500A and 5.0
2 that are 4x2, but no 5.0

I ordered mine to tow my next home as I am retiring. So Payload my biggest concern. And, I have been driving for 50+ years and never had 4x4. I will be on roads and highways and occasionally dirt roads. And I am an experienced snow driver. So the extra weight and cost and complexity was not very attractive.
Still on chip hold but hopeful.

Don’t have mine yet but I can tow as much as the next guy, 5.0 max tow 4x2 let’s me yank 12,800 behind me. Payload claims to be 3200ish but I guess my door sticker will let me know with all my options and such.

It depends on the engine. The brochure states anywhere from the same to 100 lbs more. Below are the max payloads and we know it can be significantly less with options and packages.

On my engine (Powerboost)- an extra 260 lbs! I expect my finished truck with options to have just under 2000 lbs payload. My hitch is 640 (estimate 800 loaded) which gives me options for passengers and luggage
